Bicycle parking spots near BSL (Basel airport)?

Hi,

Does anyone know if Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airport has good places to park bicycles, in or at least walking distance to the airport (if I'm travelling only with a backpack)?

I seem to remember some bike racks on the arrivals level near the bus stop. But could also have been a big bench... I didnt pay much attention TBH

There is bike parking there, just as Rob1 partially remembers

Yes, it's easy. I do it all the time. The bike/moto racks are underneath the main departures building on ground floor, under cover - I think near the parking ticket machines. I leave my bike there for week sometime, and never any problems.

yes, I did it also many times. It is free of charge; you ride all the way into the underground parking, and park just next to the entrance. Supereasy!

Many thanks, everyone. I will check it out today and see how it looks to leave it there for a week when I travel.

The bus is also a good option but if I can actually cycle into the plane and get back to a (safe, not vandalized or stolen) bicycle I will want to do it at least once.

BaselPT, Just be careful though on a bike - if you're coming from Basel, make sure you follow the route of the number 50 Bus. There are some very high fences around which separate the border of France and Switzerland. Once I tried to come in from Hegenheim direction, and I had checked the route on Google Maps beforehand, but just before I reached the Airport building, I reached a high fence and gate across the road. I only had a few minutes left before check-in, so had to jump the fence (with bike) which wasn't fun!!

I went there yesterday and there are indeed about 12 or so bike spots near the car exit of the underground parking spot near the arrivals (but one deck below it). Some of them were taken by bicycles which weren't chained to the fixed spot, so I guess it must be safe.

Indeed there are some high fences in border areas, but there is a sort of bike lane all along the route that takes you to the airport.

I noticed this thread is a few years old now. Is the cycle parking at euroairport still free? thanks

Yes

I just wanted to point out that you save more money by parking for free on the Swiss side of the airport rather than the French side.

Be careful on the bike path heading to the airport (right side). There are a few places with really sharp thorny bushes and some stinging nettles. They are not always cut back, and I brushed up against one the other day and my arm was on fire. Thank you Zyrtec!
