“Biggest” football clubs in Switzerland?

Like in England you have the “big four” in Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.

In order who are the Swiss big teams? – There are 0 sites related to Swiss football in English which is shocking!

I’m guessing it’s:

1) Basel

2) Grasshopper

3) Zurich

4) YB Bern

5) Servette?

Also as a side question what has happened to Servette FC? They used to be pretty good! Have a decent history... Nice big new stadium and now they are towards the bottom of the second tier! What happened?

In terms of recent sucess it would be pretty much

1.Basel

2.Zurich

3.Berne

Zurich are very much on a downwards trend. Who's 4th is up to interpretation. For example GC is the most sucessful club but they've won nothing for ages and are close to bankrupt and have no more fans.

What happened to servette was they got a new owner who did a Leeds on them. He overstretched the budget in the hope of CL football, They got massive debts and got relegated cause of that.

With regards to Grasshopper, my Uncle was telling me about the decline in numbers of fans. He tells me that they are lucky to get 2000 to each gamme... I mean, I realise that when a team is in decline fan numbers will dwindle, but for a team in a huge city like Zurich with a successful history, that is atrocious! I know most of the Swiss don’t take there football as seriously as us Brits but that is very fickle! There are teams in the English 5th tier that get regular crowds of more than 10,000....

If tickets to higher-devision games in the UK weren't so atrociously expensive, that would probably no longer be the case.
