Bike party

Hi EFs,

does anyone know if in Switzerland somewhere, somehow, are bike (bicycle) party held?

Bike party are a 15 miles ride, with defined stops with music sytem (usually carried on bycicles) ... something like a critical mass, with less self-rightenousness and more fun&music.

Something like this:

Here's an article about something a bit more serious/strenuous:

and this weekend 19. June 2016 new cycle routes are being officially opened (with party), see http://www.umweltveloweg.ch/

and here is the velodemo

and here evening rides (for free)

and this: https://pages.rapha.cc/de/clubs-de/pop-up-zurich/rides (though an article in the Tagesanzeiger (Zurich daily newspaper) http://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/zuerich/...PopularComment

shows this event especially as a fashion parade of particular cycling gear.

Having looked all that up, I feel none of it looks quite as fun as the video you posted. Hope you find such an event. And please post it, if you do. Thanks.

Or should we... just organise one then?

There's Slow-Up which is a day when roads are shut to traffic and everyone (especially kids and people who don't cycle so often) are encouraged to get cycling. There's usually entertainment, food/drink and sponsorship freebies along the route.

The Alsace one (just north of Colmar) was a couple of Sundays ago and was brilliant - the local vineyards were all out in force.

Basel's is on 18th September.

That's a great idea (obviously, because I have the same idea ). What is really needed (to attract people) is something like a long john (or a cargo bike) with a sound system. I do not know how tolerant is police with loud music from a bike during the evening, but I really feel we should give a try.

But I am in Zurich!

Thanks for listing all the options. Definitley, it feels like there is a gap in the bike-activity to cover!

Being new to town, I was wondering the same--especially when I found myself walking amidst something called the Zurich Saturday Style Ride: http://styleride.ch/ .

Sadly, it looks as though this is just an annual event . . .

The Velodemo held in September is the nearest to what you're seeking. Boom boxes, beers and babes rolling around the city. The police escort the group and close roads. A pleasant way of seeing the city for a couple of hours. I find the critical mass rides a bit raggedy but certainly friendly.

The style ride baffles me completely but it's harmless.
