I've given birth twice there. Both times were good experiences, the midwives are very supportive and helpful but you do need to ask specifically if you need anything.
Thank you so much for the replies everyone, that's really helpful! One other thing, I currently have a doctor in Baar because it was near work but she's a bit odd (to be polite) and I thought I might change, especially if I go to the See Spital as she won't cover this area. It's a bit late as I only have another 11 or so weeks to go, but well, better late than never I suppose!
Do any of you live in the Waedenswil area and do /did you (or wife!) have a doctor in the area who was also there at the birth or did you (or wife!) just go the midwives at the see spital for the pregnancy checks?
My wife just went with the mid-wives and doctors at the hospital but she saw a different gyno in Horgen for the check-ups before the birth.
Feel free to PM me and I can give you my wife's details if you want to ask anything else in more detail (my knowledge goes as far as location of hospital and where I could find the coffee ).
Hi! Just reviving this thread as I am also interested in finding a good doctor to to help me give birth at Seespital Hospital. Any recommendations? I'm currently seeing a gyno near work but don't think she goes to Seespital.
A doctor does not normally attend a natural birth. The midwife does the stuff but of course there is a team of doctors at the hospital to deal with any problems and to check the baby afterwards.
oh really? Wasn't sure how it worked here since back in Oz, the doctor would be at the birth (almost no point organising a check-up with them if he/she wasn't available around the time of your expected due date).

Births in Geneva are certainly attended by doctors.... at least for the delivery, it might not be your own obstetrician of course, as that will depend on whether they have hospital rights at the hospital you've chosen.
Ask the hospital itself for a list of local doctors with privileges.
I gave birth in Horgen and had the on duty doctors. It was a great hospital and experience. I would not consider going anywhere else if I have a second child.
My wife gave birth twice there. We were extremely happy with the doctors and the midwives even though she has had some complications during her pregnancies.
Btw, most of the rooms have lake view , that is icing on the cake
Me neither! But I had no issues at all. If I needed to call a midwife for help during my stay and she didn't understand English, she'd just go and get one who did
Do they not have an instructed tour of the hospital?
We have attended a tour of the hospital(Zug Kanton hospital), met some midwives, head of birth department, some docs. Got very useful information about how the birth process will/shall be and how the process will/shall be after birth, also about dietary before and after birth. Urgent numbers etc.
Yes, they do at Horgen Spital. Not the whole hospital but the bits that matter for a birth. I went with my wife and they showed us where to park, gave us a parking ticket, showed us the labour rooms and went through some stuff that I'm sure my wife listened to.
