I have been on a non-stop quest for curtains since I have been here. My super sent in a decorator, who wanted CHF 5,000. Ikea told me that the have only one size of curtain, which I still don't believe, but could not challenge because I was in a Swiss Saturday Race against time to do everything.I have many (11) and varied-sized windows in my flat and need some help here. Where can I go in Zurich for this?
Any half-decent department store will make curtains for you or a material shop. Take all the measurements along and after a week or two they'll deliver your curtains.
We did that some years ago with St Annahof in Zurich (now inexplicably renamed 'Coop City') - that is a half-decent store if ever there was one.
But what's with the black out? Do you know something we don't...
If you manage to have more time, IKEA has other options, sizes and sistems. Try to get an employee that speaks English and go there on a week night (depending on the shop and day they are open until 8pm)
Fly shops, Manor, MiCasa from Migros group, Pfister and Interio can also be a good option for ready or taylored curtains, they are all over Switzerland, but it depends on how much money you want to sped on curtains for a provisory/rented appartment or of its your permanent house.
