Hoi, if you are an animal lover just wanted to share info that there is an option to "borrow" a dog for a sunny day walk. Make sure U are there before 6 pm.
A single male walking around a park will often be avoided. If you take a dog for a walk, many women will stop to chat. Probably best to avoid any aggresive looking dog.
Very interesting idea, but I can't see the page with the info you talk about on it? I just get the home page and having gone through the English and German sites can't see anything about dog walking.
I'd hate to think that anyone was posting something simply to increase their post-count.
But I'm tickled that Zürich Animal Protection states one of its aims is to "provide help for ... rhinoceroses in endangered habitats" . Presumably it's been effective in that regard, as I haven't come across any rhinos in downtown Zürich that looked in need of help.
Mine attract anything up to 20 that is skimpily dressed (including bathing suit wearers during the summer) and gays... Lulu looks like the Nintendo Dog and I will gladly lend her out.
On the face of it, yes, my post does seem a bit harsh. But what you can't see are the 11 posts made by Raya over a 37-minute period yesterday, that were deleted by three different moderators (of whom I was not one) for irrelevance and blatantly attempting to increase post-count in order to advertise in the marketplace -- a fact later confirmed by the member.
The information in the OP of this thread does not appear to be genuine. As noted by Stifoan, there is no suggestion on the linked website that dogs are available "on loan" and in fact, placing such trust in anonymous members of the public seems unlikely in a country where dog-owners are legally required to undertake a course on caring for dogs before they may acquire one. If anyone can confirm otherwise, I'd be happy to stand corrected. (The Tierschutz is closed as I type this.)
Sure. By the dozen. They'd be all over the rhino, though, not you.
I thanked without clicking the link , as I assumed the poster was referring to 'Gassi Gehen', where one volunteers to walk shelter dogs on a regular basis, an activity very much needed and appreciated by the staff and most importantly needed and appreciated by the dogs in their care. A very rewarding voluntary engagement, one I would encourage anyone with a experience, knowledge, the ability to make a firm commitment, and a love of dogs to look into.
To volunteer to do this, simply contact your local Tierheim and ask if help is needed.
As it turns out, I had a look around on the website as I'd heard of someone else on this forum voluntarily walking dogs from shelters before, but a little further away.
I found the contact email address of the animal shelter and sent them a message in English and German. The manager rang me yesterday and I'm going to see them this week to talk about helping with the dog walking.
So whatever the intentions of the OP, this is genuinely something you can get involved in. You have to speak some German though (as the nurses will give you instructions in German) and you also need to have personal insurance ( I guess in case something happens to you or the dog while you're out on your walk..or someone else's dog).
I'll tell you more after I visit them later this week.
