Where did you buy it from?
... at least that's what I heard.
they should replace the battery within a year. Dell did for me.
I've got an Acer laptop and I'm very happy with it
Admittedly you've got to really be whacking the laptop to do so many charge and discharge cycles in one year, but I have seen it done regularly.
I also know of one major computer manufacturer that sells extended warranties that cover everything except the battery - the battery still only has a years guarantee, and only so long as it fits within the above criteria.
Battery maintenance - your battery should not charge when 100% and on the laptop. Heat cycles are what kills the battery and charging causes heat.
Dell never asked me about cycles on the battery. I think I actually let it run out and then sit for some time (it was a Dell Mini9 so I did not use it all the time).
A good tool to see how your battery is doing is BatteryBar - Osiris does a free version and it's quite good.
I've had to replace both the power supply and battery on my Acer laptop at least once. And when the power socket broke with 3 months of purchase, that wasn't covered by the warranty...
Still - they've been more reliable and robust than the Toshibas I used to use. And better value for money.
Acer sucks badly, and their support is the worst, although Dell seems to be joining them in their mediocrity lately...
Well that's what it takes to buy throwable cheap acer or dell laptops... And you often have to fight in court with them to get your warranty respected...
Although Batteries are always "dead" after 6months up to 1 year and a half... it's like this with that technology, nothing to do with Acer or Dell or whatever...
...and Toshiba, too
...and...., too
This has been covered in more than one thread. But what should we then buy...?
