Bringing personal jewelry

Hello everyone, I searched it but couldn't find a clear answer. Next week my mother will come to Switzerland by plane from a non-Eu country. We have couple of personal jewelry with her. We would like to make them bring. Total value is about 300-400 chf.

Is there a regulation about personel jewelry? (declaration, value limit etc)

I read some websites but they mention about importing not personal usage.

If it’s her own jewelry and she’s going to wear it here....really shouldn’t be an issue. There is no regulation of which I am aware. Just make sure she keeps it with her in hand luggage and not in checked baggage to prevent theft. Hope she has a good time.

I wouldn't even worry about it.

All those fancy pants on the planes with their lovely Swiss watches don't even get looked at twice despite having 5k+ on their wrists.

There is no burden to declare personal items. Unless you are planning to sell them when she gets here.

Chf 300-400 is what kids wear !! (think telephone just to start with)

Providing it isn't a fake Rolex/Cartier/Whatever, absolutely no problem, she just wears it as jewellery.

To give you an idea, a genuine Patek Philippe leather watch strap in croco retails for Chf 485.-- (just a standard strap......nothing else)

Here is the appropriate web page if you want to do further research.

Is this not maybe CHF300k-400k? Otherwise (No offense), this amount is very little to worry about.

I brought in a few pieces without any issues. Just make sure it’s clearly personal use, not new or unusually valuable, and you shouldn’t get stopped or taxed.
