Brunch in Basel Area

Does anybody know of a nice place for brunch in the Basel area for Mother's Day tomorrow?

The Angry Monk by the Tinguely fountain does a nice brunch. Its quite casual and a nice place if its sunny and you can sit out.

hi

anyone know good place for brunch in basel?i moved from new york and i miss nice bruch .:-) but not like swiss buffet brunch lol .:-)

thanks

My husband (Italian-Swiss chef) and I (from Chicago) just took over a restaurant in the Basel area, Restaurant Schlössli in Aesch. We offer brunch on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. There is a bread buffet for 10 chf, or with eggs, bacon and sausages made to order for 20 chf. The rest is ordered a la carte: quiche and salad and a few more 'lunchy' items. The coffee is really good, but no free refills (I couldn't quite convince my husband that was a good idea, though we do give tap water and free refills: one of those little things I miss from the States.)

It's a cozy location with indoor and outdoor seating with a great view, kid-friendly as well. You take the number 11 tram all the way to the end of the line in Aesch. There are also great hikes that start in Aesch so if you want to combine some outdoor activity with a nice breakfast this is the place to come.

Of course, the restaurant is also open for lunch, dinner or just coffee or drinks from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 10 pm.

Have a look at the website (in English), www.schlossli.ch , and hope to see you sometime soon!

Thank you so much. We will go there soon .We love brunch like american have it .I hope he can make egg benedict .!!!! or waffel.

There's a farm at the top of Margarethen Park that does a nice brunch on weekends, it is more in the way of Swiss brunch than American but it only costs 15 - and I can recommend it.

I can recommend you the Zic Zac Cafe in Basel, close to Allschwil : www.ziczac-basel.ch

They have a buffet or "a la carte" on Sundays and if the weather is nice you can seat outside.

Enjoy your meal !

Any good tip about Sunday brunch in Basel?

Schlossli in Aesch (end of number 11 tram) is lovely - a proper mix of continental & english style breakfast/brunch. It's run by a Brit/Swiss couple I believe.

There's a big room at the Badische Banhof with Sunday brunch, a relaxed, slightly boho atmosphere,

The Teufelhof bar also does a nice one.

You can also try ZigZac. http://www.ziczac-basel.ch/

They have a Brunch Buffet from 10 until 2 for 39 CHF/person.

But they have everything from Breakfast to Dinner foods. Its awesome.

Just heard that Restaurant Schlössli closed down. I never got to try it!

Yep, it closed in January this year - real shame as it was lovely, although we never went as much as we'd liked to have done.
