Does anyone recommend any buffet in Geneva? It doesn't have to be all-you-can-eat. I like lots of buffet in Zurich area that you pay by food weight.
For the moment my need is during weekday lunch near train staion/Paquis/rue du Mont Blanc area. It's not about the price but just don't want to waste time waiting for lunch with a short lunch break.
I went to the Manor buffet a very long time ago but didn't like it. I like vegetables and healthy food but steamed carrots, pepper without spice is just too poor cooking...
On an related topic I find Geneva lacks the canteen culture, as far as I know there are only 2 company/hospital canteens which are open for public. In the German-speaking Switerland I have been to so many canteens with buffet, they are systematically open for guests/externals and lots of time you need to pay more than internal employees.
Migros or Coop restaurants? Personally I rather like the Manor restaurants, as they're rather higher quality. Tasteless? Maybe because we're used to oversalted, over-flavour enhanced food, whereas they make an effort to keep it natural.
Just go to the OCE building and keep on walking. The canteen is in the courtyard on the left. It is not marked on google maps and is not accessible from the street.
just want to give an update to the situation for those who are interested.
I believe the "OCE" canteen that Dack is referring to is in fact the Post's canteen "restaurant la poste montbrillant", I have been there, it's OK but not what I want as they have no selfserving hot dishes buffet. There is only a salad buffet and then you have 2 hot dish menus that you can choose.
What I want is a free-choice buffet that we can choose everything, the ideal would be like Haus Hiltl in Zurich or any company/school buffet in the German-speaking Switzerland. I have also been to some good Indian buffet there but can't find one in Geneva. Have been to one called Indian Plaza in Geneva because they have a buffet but it's horrible
