My building is currently having photovoltaics installed.
I just received a letter from the building management asking me to make my parking space available for the next 2 weeks from 7am-5pm so the electricians can have access the cables.
A few weeks ago all residents also got a letter not to use the visitor parkings slots because they are for visitors only and this would be monitored and reported to the police...
I can't believe the cable access needed all the time for the next two weeks. I work from home so my car is parked the entire time. I also don't want to park outdoor (and even don't know where) in fear of hail etc.
As far as I still want to live where are live and don't want any disputes with the building management, shouldn't they offer any alternatives or at least cover the costs for other parking spots? They didn't offer anything, didn't answer to my e-mail and I pay 180 CHF/month for the spot.
I think you should be more than entitled to the use of the visitor parking spot. Have you asked for this permission to be made official, limited to the time of the works?
If they still don't reply just do it with a note on the windshield, notify the administration of your decision, and if the Police really comes you explain the situation.
Well I received the letter yesterday and read it only today. I sent them an email an hour ago, but work starts on Monday and I know from experience that they will ignore it and not reply to the email.
I'm pissed because they are the first to report anything that is not according to the building rules, but the last to take any responsibility for what is going on. I am glad we will have photovoltaics installed but this lacks any organization or planning and it looks I will need to paid out of my pocket for something I already pay.
Tell them you expect a rent reduction for the inability to use your parking space for those 2 weeks if they can’t/won’t provide alternative arrangements. And don’t e-mail that; send them a registered letter stating this.
