Burning a Karaoke CD

Christmas is coming, and a friend of mine (who actually sings very well) wants to give her hubby a CD with songs she sings herself, which I find very sweet and which I know he will love. Nothing fancy, just basically taping a Karaoke session, but, as I said, with someone who sings well. I once came across a place where you could go into a studio, sing along a karaoke tape and take home your CD, but that was in Berlin. Has anyone seen such a thing in Switzerland, preferably Zurich? I have googled up and down the internet, but all I found was a place where you can burn demo CDsfor CHF 1'500, and that is not the range she has in mind.

Any suggestions?

Well you can find a studio which will cost money but shouldnt be as much as 1500chf.

Otherwise the way I do it is to record via my mixer onto mini disk, then from mini disk to computer.

Do you have a MD recorder at all?

she will have to sign up though it requires a membership but there are endless songs and tracks and it is all free, I love this site and use it a lot in my spare time(which is not a lot!!!) hope it helps,

I was working that's where (yep first time for everything )

I did find a studio at very reasonable rates, it's a guy called Morph on the forum who has a studio on Weststrasse, nice setup particularly if it's vocals you're after, he has some really good quality gear!

Cost wise it will be WAY cheaper than 1500CHF, it's charged by the hour, if you get in touch with him I'm sure he'll be happy to help

Thanks, everyone, this is great information. As we both don't have any recording equipment, she will practice with the SIMS and then contact Morph. I have already checked his website, and the prices really are way below CHF 1'500.

If you are doing it just for novelty value, you could do it with your computer , a microphone and free Audacity software to mix and align the two audio tracks.

If on the other hand you want quality, and you can sing you want a condensor mic, and an Allen & Heath mixer.... Studios generally charge by the hour and there is a lot of competition. You just want to lay down the single vocals, so it is not a complex studio job for a professional sound eng, but you are obviously on the critical path.

It has been known in a very druken state that when I sing Purple Rain its on the money!

I have a karaoke game on the playstation (its Barbara's) and I get booed off everytime I try and sing :0(
