Bus 50 to Basel Europort

Haven't been on the site in months, now here I am twice in 10 minutes!

I have a leftover Zone 2 BVB Mehrfahrkart from last year and I can't recall if that will be valid from the SBB to the airport. Something is in my mind about it being Zone 13 so might not work.

Will I need to get a single ticket from the station to the airport?

Being lazy, I could go online but thought it was nice to be back on EF for a bit!

Thanks,

Pam

A "zone 2" or "2 zone"?

The latter is fine; no idea what the former is, which is what you typed.

Was going on memory and knew Therwil was 2 zones but just checked, it's 2 Zonen.

(Nice to see a familiar face Mr London!)

Thanks,

Pam

The 2 Zonen ticket will be fine, if you used it to go from Basel to Therwil, then you should be OK, in fact, I think you might be over paying since the fare from SBB to Euroairport is, I think, only 1 Zone, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Good, cos you'd be wrong The airport is in a little zone all by itself out there in the French wilderness.

A related question: where exactly is the bus stop for this bus? I know it's near the railway station somewhere, but where is it exactly ?

It starts its journey at the NE corner of your localised viewing space, near a miniature (irony!!!) magifying glass.

Yes, but what colour is it?

It varies! I'll check out the other thread with similar questions and answers in a minute.

Edit: Here you are. You've got the whole weekend to read it.

Oh dear have you been hanging around our resident exact detail record breaking marathon runner?

I've taken that bus a few times and it's 2 zones from sbb to airport. If you're not sure in the future, you can just type the starting and ending point of your trip in the ticket machine and it tells you which type of ticket you should buy. Safe trip!

there is MASSIVE sticker on the ticket machine next to the 50 bus stop that says : airport 2 zones.

I always wondered if you could use the "2-stop ticker" to go to the airport, provided you catch it in one of the 2 last stops. I'm guessing not allowed.

I got this bus yesterday, unfortunately.

Unfortunately because I missed my edinburgh - geneva flight in the morning through my own stupidity. I transferred to the Basel flight and then spent the day on trains

The green bus stops directly outside the airport and cost 9chf to reach the basel SBB, again stops directly outside. I thought I had stepped back in time seeing the old trams there, geneva has trams like that for tourists only

It's not 9 CHF.

It's a 2-zone trip and costs 4.20 (standard) or 2.80 (halbtax).

And sad old locals like my other half..... who's a fully paid-up member of the local Trams Society.

I guess it's a tourist price then.. There was a big sign sign near the ticket machine, bus 50 to SBB 9chf ..

I didn't buy it, i went to the SBB desk in the airport and bought a train ticket which included the bus ride

The 9 CHF ticket is a day pass.; there are no "tourist prices". Most tourists don't pay for public transport, as the hotel/hostel price includes a daily tax that gives a pass for all public transport. A printed-out hotel booking can be used for the initial trip to the hotel where they'll give you the proper pass.
