Business Schools in Geneva/Zurich/Lausanne??

I know there have been some relevant threads before,so I would like to make a more accurate approach about some things.

Does anybody know about good business schools in Zurich , Geneva and Lausanne ???

I would like to do a Master in Management or Master in International Business .

I have found some:International School in Geneva,Business School Lausanne,Zurich Business School and European University.Could someone tell me about these schools(not for their accreditation, but for their quality)?

I speak English and German, however I would like to join an english-speaking business school.

Besides,I know about IMD(offers MBA),St Gallen(high entry requirements),HEC Geneva(has some French),HEC Lausanne(has some French),ETH(MSc in Management,Technology and Economics).ETH's master is good,but in general is known as an engineering,not a business school.

In addition, because I'm Greek and care about weather, isn't it true that Geneva and Lausanne have a warmer climate than Zurich?

Thank you very much for your answers in advance.Any answer can prove invaluable for me!!!!!!!

P.S.Sorry for my loooong text.......

Thunderbird is also in Geneva. They specialize in international business.

International School in Geneva is a primary/secondary school not a business school. I think you must be thinking of the International University in Geneva. There are also Webster University in Geneva, Swiss Finance Institute in Geneva and Zürich, and IFM in Geneva

If you care about the reputation, then the only ones (in my opinion) that are solid are IMD, HEC (both), and ETH. As for the others, well, ... you pays your money and you takes your choice.

Thunderbird is one of the TOP MBA programs for International

Business in the world.

IMD has a small focus of Switzerland.

It is not known outside of Switzerland really.

I think you may want to recheck this. IMD is highly recognised in Europe (see Financial Times rankings) and often competes with INSEAD for the top non-American institution. It may not be known among Americans but they wouldn't know about INSEAD either. OK, the top business schools are in the US (Harvard, MIT-Sloan, Kellogg, Wharton, etc.) but I wouldn't say IMD is just known in Switzerland.

..IF one thinks that a ranking of 60-somethingst qualifies as "one of the 'TOP' " .

You'll forgive me if I express a contrary opinion.

.

Sorry. This is just not true. IMD is known throughout Europe and is quite often (I can't confirm always) on the list to top business schools in Europe.

Thank you all for your answers. Keep informing!!!!More information, more knowledge ->smarter decision!!

@ HollidayG :Thank you very much for mentioning Thunderbird. As I've seen here( http://www.thunderbird.edu/about_thu...ings/index.htm ) is a very good business school. The MSc in Global Management seems very interesting, however this programme is offered in the U.S. only, not in Geneva.

@ Suisse2008 :I was wrong,I meant International University in Geneva. From the other private schools,do you agree that this is a good choice?

As for IMD,I also believe that it has a global reputation.However,it doesn't have a Master in Management,so I can't join this.As for HEC(both),I think I can't join them because a part of them is in French,which I don't speak.

Any other opinion about Business School Lausanne,International School in Geneva and the others?

I am looking forward to hearing more and more recommendations!!!!Help me please!!

I strongly agree with Suisse2008's post above.

If you want to do a MBA, consider IMD or HEC only. For MSc, the choice is a bit wider.

Go to ft.com and look at the rankings. Or you may waste a lot of money.

They are specialized in International Business. The original poster

asked about studying international business. They have been

ranked #1 in this category in the past.

If you are looking to specialize in finance, Thunderbird is probably not

the place to go.

I too would contest this. I worked at UNC-Chapel Hill Business School (Kenan-Flagler) which is a top American Business School and IMD often partnered with UNC-CH for a number of things. We also had faculty go between the two programs. As a matter of fact, there is some American faculty there now (Bill Fischer is from UNC-CH). IMD and INSEAD are both known in the US within the Business School sector. Of course, many American Business Schools are also doing degree programs thru online also (with onsite a few weeks each year). And these often tend to be VERY international in scope. Good luck with the decision!

To be more specific,I would like to inform everybody that I'm interested in an MSc in Management or an MSc in International Business , NOT an MBA .That's why I can't join IMD.

@Sash :Both HEC have MSc in Management, but,as I've seen,a part of them is in French, isn't it?I've already looked at FT rankings, but I've found that only University of St.Gallen and HEC Lausanne represent Switzerland in MSc in Management rankings. You said that for MSc the choice is a bit wider.Could you recommend me something, please?I need everyone's opinion!!!

@HollidayG: As I've mentioned above,Thunderbird looks a good choice but the MSc in Global Management programme is located on the U.S.I'm not interested in MSc in Finance.

Thank you very much for your post Mistrale !!

So,to sum up,if I'm interested in MSc in Management or MSc in International Business and NOT MBA ,could everyone, who would like to help, make a list of top 4 or 5 recommended business schools ????

Thank you everyone very much for your time devoted in advance!!!!

OP, you will have to do a little bit of your homework yourself. Google those schools, read up on reviews and recommendations. See if there is a message board or forum as part of those school web pages. On top of that, contact federal dept of education here. Use the search button on this forum as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the link MusicChick!!However,I must say that I've joined this forum, having done most of the research and ''homework'' about the subject I'm asking. Here I'm just asking for opinions and advice from people who would like to recommend something and who may know something more than me.For example they may have friends who have studied on these business schools and could express a closer approach on the subject.

This variety and all these different voices can prove invaluable.....

there are master in Management in English at University of Lugano. Lugano has better climate than Zürich and Geneva, although is not as big and international...

Check out University of St. Gallen.

@Nesta :Thank you very much for your reply.I've already checked out University of St.Gallen .It has a MSc called Strategy and International Management (SIM). It looks great, but with high entry requirements.Imagine that the class 2010/11 has approximately 25 students!!!!

Hi,

my company send the most promising to IMD at Lausanne, but I heard it is very, very expensive.

Do you look for a MBA or an EMBA?

@OCMA:I'm looking for a MSc in Management or MSc in International Business.
