Call me crazy, but I'd like to buy a life-sized cow for my living room. Ten years ago there were loads of them around for the Cow Parade in Zurich, and you still see some of them from time to time.
Sure enough, you can buy them in the US . But is there someplace similar I can buy a fibregass cow here, either painted (one of the ex-Cow Parade ones, maybe?) or ready-to-paint?
No help to you, but one of the things that amused me in Brazil is that they have a kind of QVC for buying real cows. They put up a video of a cow and people phone in bids.
(I initially put "real live cows" but I really don't know what you get for your money. Everything was in Portuguese. They were alive in the video.)
At least I assumed they were selling the cows. It was late night TV....
I was in cologne at the weekend and you just off the hohe strasse there was a big antique store. They were selling a giant brass gorilla......It was 2m high and the same length.
Would have look very nice taking up 3/4 of my apartments living space
My company still has one of those standing in the basement...If you make 'm a good offer you can probably have it (as we are moving to smaller quarters next year)....
See, Slaphead mocked me for posting about a life-sized fibreglass cow on this forum, but 40 minutes after I'd posted my request I've managed to track down a possible candidate. How's that for social networking?!
BasP72 , I'm interested. Any chance you could snap a photo of how the cow is painted and send it to me (either post it on this thread, or send it to me in a PM?)
Any idea what the going rate for a cow is (or what your company might accept as a reasonable offer?)
I hope you'll be staying for a really long time dude. Will be a big hassle to get rid of the cow when you leave, unless another (crazy) EFer takes it off your hands or you're planning on shipping it back with you. Imagine the customs....
Not to mention the emotional attachment that you would have formed with the cow...
Would a life size Horse with a Lamp Screen do ? - You can get these at the Furniture Centre in Dubendorf near Ringstrasse. It might be the Interio, but not sure.
Ehm, maybe you should have a cool-down period first before you are stuck with a huge cow ?.......... this kind of reminds me when a fried of mine got married but that's a different story
We were here for about a month when Zug had 175km/hr winds. We got back to our hotel to find the reception window smashed and the vacancy sign had gone through it from the force of the wind.
The hotel owner greeted us at reception and told us that he'd lost a cow. "How could he lose a cow?" we thought. Puzzled, we asked him to elaborate. He'd lost one of those giant cows from the roof in the storm. It ended up in the field across the road and had bounced on the road and through the fence.
The cow is back up on the roof, but strapped down a bit better this time.
VI (OP), I empathize with you for desiring to have a cow statue in your living room. I too have fallen in love with them ever since I moved to CH. They are very nice indeed. Ask the nearest farmer or establishment where they got their cow, like this one (which I saw in a shop window in Bern recently):
