Buying baby-stuff in Zurich

Hi,

We're new in Zurich from upstate New York, and trying to figure out the best (quality + prices) place to buy things for our 6-month old. The baby is only awake for a couple of hours at a time, so easily reachable places are appreciated. We're in Affoltern, by the ETH Hönggerberg campus.

Thanks.

For secondhand stuff look here http://www.kindex.ch/kt-zuerich/bez-zuerich or come to the Herbstbörse in GZ Loogarten (ZH-Altstetten) on Oct 2nd and 3rd > Link

For new stuff look e.g. here www.babyhaus.ch or www.probaby.ch (that's near the Europabrücke)

Thank you very much for all the resources, kanga!

I'd also recommend 4mybaby.ch. they have a store but it's near Chur but their online store is pretty good by Swiss standards!

Delivery is free once you buy a certain amount. And we've ordered by 3pm and had it the next day. Also, they are about 10% cheaper as they buy in bulk and sell on.

Delivery is free over 300 CHF. Oddly enough I ordered something from them for the first time yesterday and I'm already impressed (they processed my order on a Sunday). I'll give an update if the stuff arrives on Tuesday as promised.

Ah yes, 300 chufs that's right. As a first time mum to be we spent that we most orders so pretty pleased with delivery!

We got quite a lot from Baby Butt. They have a decent range and a decent website.

and a great name

Can also vouch for 4mybaby.ch - placed a big order and it all arrived within 2 days.

Also check out eboutic.ch as they've had a lot of kid stuff on promo lately - I've never had a problem with any of my orders, they come super quick and at great prices.

Agreed!

Also consider getting a bunch-o-stuff next time you are Stateside. Way cheaper. Or have a family/friend bring in their luggage.

- German website, delivering in CH mytoays.ch

- C&A for clothes

- vertbaudet.ch

-that french shop and benetton on Rennweg

-Ikea

-H&M (Glattzentrum for a large selection baby clothes)

That French Shop is Du Pareil au Meme (with extra bits and nobs on the letters), aka DPAM. Cute, but sometimes pretty disposable. They also have a web site: www.dpam.com

Also, there's an H and M in Oerlikon now, and they have a baby section that is pretty good. It's within walking distance from the train station. I personally get all of my baby clothes from www.laredoute.ch . I find they have faster delivery times than www.vertbaudet.ch , though they are owned by the same company (and even share a billing account!).

As mentioned before, www.babyhaus.ch has a real store, over the hill near Schaffhauserplatz, which is pretty upscale (they have all the top stroller brands, stokki trip trap, etc.). Beware, though, some things are overpriced enough that we call it Babyhaus Ripoff.

I've also used babybutt and 4mybaby with no complaints.

If you like high quality cashmere, silk, wool, etc. - for a reasonable price, I would recommend www.minimalisma.com - they ship free of charge for all orders above CHF45! Zürich based mom with Scandinavian roots.
