Buying kitchen appliances on-line

Hi

I wish to buy kitchen electrical appliances (oven, hob, fridge, dishwasher) and want to know which on-line retailers you would recommend for reliability and a good price. I would want delivery to Grimentz, Valais.

And as a management consultant that is the best you can come up with??

1) Why only "on-line" retailers?

2) Which brands are you looking at?

3) What price range?

4) Are they for daily or occasional use? IE permanent residence or holiday home

5) To fit "Swiss" or EU sized used?

6) Freestanding or integrated?

Was about to delete it because I expected another kitchen spammer

So was I!

Actually, the OP should read some of those spams, it could help him/her!

Very true. He/she could buy a complete kitchen for only £595.

They could choose the bits they want and ditch the rest and still save money compared to buying the appliances individually.

ETA : only problem is she won't get to see them as they're all nuked as soon as they appear these days.

Jury is still out on that imo. Lets see what this is leading up to.

To the OP - a general post saying hello is regarded as nice before you start firing out questions.

Difficult these days. They're only visible for about 5 seconds before someone zaps them.

I can easily expand my question but thought a more open question would produce some better suggestions!

The appliances are for a small rental apartment in a ski resort.

I want decent domestic quality and may opt for Bosch or Siemens but this is price dependent.

I am looking on-line as that seems to be better value and also I may be ordering from the UK before I get here with a car in April but if there are retail outlets in Sierre/Sion area where we could view and take away/get delivery a few days later.

Integrated built under fridge and built under oven, but the dishwasher could be either free standing or integrated.

EU sizes, i.e all 60cm wide (hob 58cm).

www.fust.ch

thank you

You realise they are actually identical under the skin?

Thank you for replying, I am looking at all manufacturers. I have found a good choice and very reasonable price on Colybry, does anyone have any feedback on their reputation? .

Fust has very limited choice for underworktop fridges and often does not publish the price.

So here is my good deed for the day.

Once you know more of less what you want, you want to go to http://www.toppreise.ch and check the prices. This is an comparison site for all/most of the on-line retailers in CH.

The cheapest prices will be via one of the on-line retailers. To see which are best for service, you can look at their ranking (out of 6). Keep in mind, prices are based on pre-pay. If you use a credit card, there will be a small % increase (varies). Details on their page. Keep in mind as well that all shipping is to the street in front of the building/house . It is up to you to be there and to get it into the apt.

If you are interested in Siemens you can go to their showroom in Renens (Lausanne) and see the full line of Siemens and Bosh. The Siemens website is http://www.siemens-home.ch You can also order their 2014 build in appliance catalog "Appareils à encastre 2014" in French.

Since some of the items are build-in, I can give you the name of a person who does Siemens installations. I think he might be willing to go to your place if there are several items to install.

One last thing. Since we are talking about appliances I would strongly suggest that you purchase them in CH in the event there are guarantee issues. Especially since you are not living at the apt.

Thank you for all of this very helpful information, especially about delivery being to only street level - I did not know that !

I do have a local electrician lined up an installer but if that falls through I will ask you for more info on your chap.

Hi

One tip: You may not know the Bauknecht brand-the brand name is Whirlpool in the UK. When we were looking at ski properties this was a common brand I saw. Personally I have found them to be of poor quality- eg.frequent breakdowns of a dishwasher, not very robust metal on a cooker hood that bent easily etc..and relatively expensive.

Thank you. After several hours on the web I think I have finally got an understanding of the various on-line stores and particularly how operate in respect of deliveries. This latter point is very relevant to us as we are only in Switzerland a few weeks of the year and need to align the deliveries with one of these. I have identified a French speaking company that will agree a specific date and time for the delivery , and hold the delivery until we can be there, and taker the good upstairs to our apartment! .

Hi Shirley

At conforama in Conthey (near Sion) you can order and pick up from the store. We have just done this for a table and plan to do this for a washing machine.

The same is true for the Fly furniture company in Conthey.

Really? So much twisted?

Actually, that depends. We've had things delivered to the second floor - you just need to check what the delivery conditions are. Sometimes they make you pay an extra fee, sometimes it's part of the delivery cost, and in many cases, as you say, they won't go past the front door! But not always...
