Buying RHD in Switzerland?

Soon my wife will need a new car as the current one she has is from 2005 and rapidly approaching 100,000km. The last service was not cheap.

It's RHD, imported from the UK. She's used to it and would like the next car to also be RHD. I'm not going to get into an argument about it.

Someone (Swiss national) mentioned to my wife that there's a garage in Bern that sells second hand post vehicles, which apparently are all RHD for some reason?

Thing is, we can't find it.

Is this even true? Does anyone know which garage it is?

RHD cars are very cheap in Switzerland as they are hard to sell.

Sometimes, you see them here on the forum and sometimes on autoscout24 or other websites.

Found this one today by coincidence: www.autoscout24.ch/3634532

The Swiss Post sells its used vehicles through Mobility Solutions AG in Bern:

A current list of their used vehicles:

It is true that years ago, the Swiss post used RHD vehicles so the drivers could get in/out on the kerb side but I haven't seen one of these for years now. So I guess the second hand market for these has also dried up. The Swiss Post's purchasing attitude seems to have changed also. It has moved away from a policy of having its own standard vehicle specification and now has a much more diverse fleet. In our area now, the post collections and deliveries are anyway done by the younger employees using electo-scooters with trailers.

Our post is delivered every day by RHD - a Fiat Panda-ish yellow van...

We know someone who works as a delivery driver for the Post and she says they still buy RHD vehicles.

Renault Twizy ?? Single seater, Elektro Auto, new price CHF 10'789

I passed one on the Autobahn, in an 80 Km/h limit.

this garage seems to be specialized in RHD

note that they are mostly exotic cars.

Well, I get why the post uses them... they are getting in and out of the car all the time and for them a RHD is probably safer and faster. But for everyday use in CH? Climbing out of the car every time I enter a car park? Not worth it... better get used to a LHD.

I'm not sure exactly why it is you want to replace the old one and I'm not sure that buying a Fiat used by the Post will solve any of those reasons.

Has she actually tried driving a LHD? Why not rent a LHD for a week and let her try it out, she might decide it's better - which obviously it is!

If it is anything decent it will last for double that without issue.

Congrats idiots on not reading my post.

Lots of luck with buying a RHD car in Switzerland (and of course, with selling it later on). Hope you find a forum more to your liking to demand assistance from.
