Have a question.

I will apply for a C Permit (under VINTA) as I have completed 05 years of continuous stay in Switzerland. All the paperwork is in order except the A2 exam. Because of a lot of travel, I have not be able to complete this. I am now trying to enroll for the next exam and get this done.

Couple of questions:

How much time should I budget for A2 exam prep? Can I shoot for 01 month prep (mainly weekends) to get this done? I have some familiarity with the language?

Can I apply for the C Permit through-out the year or does this need to be only done when my B permit come up for renewal? Some people told me that I can make the request any time and others have said that I would need to wait till the permit is renewed again.

Appreciate your help here.

Can't answer the first questions but as to the last - you can apply any time, even if you've recently renewed the B. You'll pay a separate fee for the new permit of course, but at least there's no strict timeline to panic about.

Dear OP,

are you EU or NON EU? also which canton are you applying for? in Zurich canton, under VINTA you need B1 if you applying before 10 years and A2 after 10 years.

please cehck the language requirements of the canton correctly before proceeding.

for your other question, you can apply any time and pay the fees although if you apply at the time of B renewal, you just pay one fee for the renewal and will get a B or C depending on if you meet the conditons or not.
