Cablecom and ITV/FILM4/BBC

Oh, I hope that is not true. They have the only stuff worth watching

Thats what i also heard from BBC

The BBC can't force them to remove it.

It is FTA.

This is from Ralph Beyler. You might know him from "heute"

So BBC One goes and Ruedi is happy.

BBC stays and the expats and those who like English TV are happy.

And if the BBC really forces Cablecom to pull it off, my message to them is:

F*** Y**

does anyone care ? I think you are be a bit over zealous about some pretty crap TV stations - maybe you should get a life

Try looking at Kabel Deutschland then, troll.

I don't follow the logic of this, other than 'sour grapes' from Bluewin by a spokesman who was asked why they don't carry BBC TV.

Relaying all national terrestrial channels must also have the same licensing issues - whether the domestic TV is British, French, German, Austrian, Italian, Turkish etc. etc. - and what about BBC2 and the ITV channels?

let's keep this on-topic and not start with personal insults and attacks please

Just because it's FTA doesn't mean that it can be re-broadcasted without permission. Doing so will infringe copyright unless an agreement is reached with the original broadcaster.

(Remember, the BBC channels are on Astra 2D for a reason - they are supposed to be targetted on the UK and to minise overspill. Yes, I know they are still easy to receive in most of Switzerland but that's not the point.)

At the moment in the UK, Sky News and Sky Sports News have just gone from cable even though they are available on Freeview.

Gav

Still

Swiss law allows it.

I think its good. Freedom of informtion is more important then profit of some movie studios. I belive, the studios loose almost nothing because BBC One is in Swiss cable.

Why is Sky News out of Virgin Cable?

And the rest of Sky too. Essentially Virgin didn't want to pay double for Sky's channels and Sky didn't like Virgin bidding for ITV...

Again:

Swiss law permits it the the moment and I see no reason why the people in Bern would change it.

Let me turn the argument around; if it is so legal to broadcast BBC here without permission from them, why has Bluewin failed to include BBC1?

There is no logic in excluding BBC1, because it hurts Bluewin's business. The only explanation I find plausible is that there is some backdoor checking and/or negotiation going on and there was a specific problem with BBC1.

Otherwise, I am baffled as to why Bluewin would not include it.

personally, i think soon all british tv will be gone from Cablecom or Bluewin. The Only one that will be left is BBC Prime, which is the program for outside-UK European Pay TV.

All others are "slipping" thru a system that is working in Outside-Europe but in Switzerland it ́s as always "the little differences" that Swizz People pick out for them selves.

Soon Cable in Switzerland will be like the Rest of Europe as they cannot afford to be "one off" to European TV Licensing and Laws.

What would be next? Cablecom to broadcast De-Scrambled Pay TV? Re-Broadcasting Sky or Premiere because someone left the Viewing Card in the RecieverStation of the CableStations?

Come on, Switzerland, it ́s time to Act like an Adult and not like some Growing Teenager that does this and that because "noone sees it"

It ́s time to "Pick up the Ball and go home" as Richard Branson said last week when Sky decided to pull Sky One/News/etc from Virgin Media Cable.

- would Richard Branson broadcast Sky News (it ́s FTA on Astra) in his UK Cable Network without permission of Sky?

Surely not, he had to loose thousands of Customers because Sky said no.

Surely it isn't healthy to be this bitter If you're so desperate to see the BBC channels maybe you should move to Switzerland

You really are a prick, aren't you?

While you are being prick, best you complain to the BBC, the EU, or the Great God of Pricks that BBC 1 and 2 are available in Belgium and the Netherlands through cable packages.

muze:

I assume Bluewin doesn't want to piss of the BBC. Who knows what else they plan.

Ruedi:

We talk about channels you can get here without problems. 60cm dish, point it at 28.2 and voila. Most people don't know enough English to understand BBC One anyway. Some English people here don't want or can't get a dish. So just let them have their BBC One.

For me it is en excellent way to improve my English and to stay uptodate in UK politics. I could put up a dish but as I move soon it would not make sense.

The channels on bluewin (ITV and BBC) are approved. As I said, BBC One is not approved so bluewin doesn't do it. The cable providers do it. As long the law doesn't change they can keep it.

Maybe you can whine to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

For the 1000th time: Swiss law allows you to send something on cable you get FTA. I can't give you the article yet, but I am working on it.

So the Swiss law in this point is pro information choice and contra profits for the big companies. Live with it.

I assume in the UK you need to have premission, so Sky can tell no to send Sky News.

Ruedi, You don't get Switzerland at all, do you?

Here the Autobahn signs are green and other road signs are blue (the opposite to the rest of Europe). The VAT rate is 7.6% not 19%. You are stuck with the euro, we have the franc; you pay high taxes, we pay low taxes - I could go on, but you get the picture?

Far from soon being gone from Switzerland, British TV is actually on the increase here. And as thing move slowly and carefully here, there is very unlikely to be any changes, other than the addition of BBC 3 & 4...

i did not ask for a intercultural "Schwanzvergleich" so quit that.

Oh, I see -you don't like it the other way round. And you did ask for it - and more...

if i would ask for anything like that, i would visit your gayromeo or gayroyal profile and check the photos out
