calling 00800 number with skype from ch

I've been researching and can't find an answer.. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

I'm using skype on my computer

I live in Switzerland

I want to call a number 00800xxxxxxxx

I've tried different countries, removing leading zero's, ........

Nothing - I can't seem to get a connection.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong --- any suggestions?

Where is the number located (here or elsewhere)? It looks wrong to me - usually it's 0800xxxxx rather than 00800xxxxx.

If it's located in the UK, for example, you would have to dial +44 800xxxx

Otherwise google it for the country in which it's located.

This is all the info I have......

How to reach us: We are your first port of call – and mean this. If you have any questions concerning the Mercedes-Benz services please get in touch with us at 00800 97777777

Their website has an alternative number here .

thank you, I appreciate the other number... however I really want to learn how to use the 00800 numbers. This is one of many that I've been trying to call.

Skype simply doesn't support these numbers, so you'll have to find another way. What's wrong with dialling from a normal phone?

There's quite a few company's out there with "flexible" desks, or "hot" desks that don't use desk phones anymore but solely rely on a headset & Skype for business.

Calling toll free number like 0800xxxxxx works with skype.

Its there on the link mentioned by Ace1.

Can I dial toll free numbers in Skype?

Yes, use the dial pad to enter toll free numbers on Skype. The following countries and number ranges are supported and are free of charge to all users:

France: +33 800, +33 805, +33 809

Poland: +48 800

UK: +44 500, +44 800, +44 808

USA: +1 800, +1 866, +1 877, +1 888

Taiwan: +886 80 It depends where the mercedes benz office is.

But dont know if it works for Netherlands... lol

No, this is not a country-specific 800 number, but an international one - the two zeros (or a +) are required regardless of where you're dialing from, and it should work with a normal land or mobile phone, just not from Skype.

OK, thanks everyone for the help.

It sounds like Skype is not going to work for these calls.

I prefer to use my computer as it's most convenient for me.

Many places I have on my list of "must make calls" have 00800 numbers and I thought it was going to be simple.

Thanks again.

This would have worked if an American company instead of an international 00800 number got a national +1 800 number, those are different.
