Camera flash for starting off too soon after red light

Hi, I started up early at a traffic light near the bridge in Bellevue. Probably was Amber turning to green. I was trying to get ahead of a rather wide truck next to me as I hadnt been confortable driving next to it.

I got flashed and also the lorry which started off a second after me.

I know that it is not worth arguing the toss about and am not one of those that likes to speed off at lights, in my Ford Focus ;-), but can anyone enlighten me on the rules? Heading off at amber is a clear breach? Whar gets me is the lorry was flashed too, so I am thinking the cameras are set deliberately to catch people starting up to soon and rake in multiple CHF 250.

Next time I will hang back and let lorry go, and instead face the wrath of drivers behind me instead. :-(

Is that the light at the tram stop near Burkliplatz? I swear you look at that thing wrong and it flashes people. I haven't been caught but they must change those bulbs often with how often I see it go.

It's most likely CHF250.-. Mine took a month to turn up.

However, I believe it is impossible to be stopped on red, see amber and get through the lights before it turns green. I've tried it...

Yes, it's at Burkliplatz heading towards the bridge. Kicking myself for driving that way through town.

Look at the light sequence next time.... amber and red are still illuminated. Only green means go.

If you are unlucky you may get a time of 15-20 seconds

You will have been flashed twice, so the second flash you saw may not have been for the lorry.

what kind of camera is this , speed or red light camera?

Cannot be told from the outside, and could even be both.

Or, the logical one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_disjunction

You can see the slit for the laser, and i have seen it to flash for red light offenders.

Lol. I thought you took the image yourself with a potato camera.

Lol, yes that was the image from google maps

I think, it is more for red signal, no one would be speeding at a junction ,there I also see one behind the intersection at the google maps link.

EdwinNL is correct, it could be the dual-purpose camera for both red light and speeding infringements. Because people do speed at junctions this is where dual-purpose cameras are located.

It is usual that they measure speed and enforce the red light. Cheap extra revenue. I wont say it is from own experience, but there are many cameras in the city of Zurich which do. Not only laser ones but also those with induction loops. At least the later have a 5 km/h tolerance, whereas the laser ones have only 3 km/h.

PS: The camera behind is for the other direction.

By other direction would you mean ,the white van for example?

Well another question, does it always flash?

I guess I am waiting for my Christmas present

Never got a bill without a flash

On the other hand many times did not get a bill when there was a flash

Sometimes because the flash was for someone else, some times because after tolerance I was within the legal limit and I think at least one time because the thing was malfunctioning.

The last time I was a bit worried because I was no longer 100% sure if it was still green or if the flash was because the one in front was going too fast. Guess what, no bill for me
