Camp sites at ski resorts

Hi

Can anyone advise, we have some friends who have just bought a super duper all singing all dancing camper van - they are wanting to drive over at Easter for a visit an also want to get in some skiing, can anyone tell me if there are camp sites at ski resorts for nutters with camper vans in winter?

Cheers

Nicky

Yes there are. At Mortaratcsh in Engadine, and Churwalden near Lenzerheide are two that I have seen nutters camping in.

If you google camping in the town you will find more info or look here but that site is limited to TCS campsites.

By the way your friends should be certified.

Yep I agree, they are also coming with their kids 7 & 8!! crazy! he has just informed me its a snazzy german camper van with a heated garage for ski's etc.. ???? (garage in a camper van?? ) central heating and hot water!

anyway rather them than me....

thanks for the info

Nicky

Try this site . I also tried simply googling 'winter camping skiing switzerland' and came up with a couple of areas.

Good luck! Also to the campers!!

Didn't see it in the list posted, but fairly sure there is a camping site at Flumserberg, which is handy if you want to go and join them from Zurich.

It might be a permanent caravan park, but I have always wondered who uses it/lives there.

I have heard that a lot of mad dutch people stay in that campsite at flumserberg, yes thats the only one I knew of, just didn't know if many camp sites were open over winter, thought there might be some extreme winter camping peeps on here

http://www.eienwaeldli.ch/ in Engelberg is open year round.

Hi,

These two campsites in Lauterbrunnen are open (and very popular in winter)

For more info about the Jungfrau Ski Region have a look here www.jungfrauwinter.ch

Retired friends of ours spent the whole winter in a caravan on a site in Interlaken (Manor Farm) so they could ski as much as possible.... Said it was no problem.

That camp site at Bergheim is mostly fixed caravans, with wooden panels round them to look like chalets, but they do also accept campers with vans and tents, (although surely only in the summer!). The woman who runs it doesn't speak English but her daughter, who lives not far away, does. The bus stop to the lifts is not too far away either.
