Camping...near 'a lake in CH' :)

Camping question! My daughter's university friend is looking for a little camping adventure in Switzerland at the end of her summer job au pair job in the Vevey area. They need a pre-pitched arrangement i.e. they wont have their own tent while they are here. Their only requirement is to be near a lake plus they are on public transport so dont mind walking to the site from a station or slumming it (is there such a thing in CH?!) Any ideas or recommendations?

The do camping by the Zuger lake, might be a bit far from Vevey though. If they do it in Zug they must do it on other lakes too.

If she wants something lively... Balmers, Interlaken

Interesting question - in France there are a lot of campsites that that camping villages with tents equipped with beds and linen, fridges, cookers, tables and chairs, etc. But this is something I have never ever seen in Switzerland. Would be interesting to have a list of those available and some opinions- as we are past camping age, but would be quite happy with a bit of 'glamping'.

You can rent a stationary caravan , tubes , cabanes , pods , tents or bungalows in many campsites.

La Menthue in Yvonand campsite is wonderful with its own beach.

I don't know about public transport though.

Thanks, never heard of La Menthue- always camped at the VD8 when I was young, and this is where we go to the beach nowdays too. Will pop in and have a look next time we are there.

VD8 is a bit tatty. La Menthue is for the more discerning campers.

in Yverdon you can rent a tent and you have transport + a lake

Ahahaha- last time I camped there with friends, we were all wild teenagers and quite rowdy- so perhaps you are right

go to lac de tanay! you can also hike up grammont before or after you pitch your tent! great camping spot!

Lac de Tanay is absolutely beautiful.

If they wanted to buy a tent I think Aldi and even interdiscount sell them for like 50 CHF or less.

There is a nice campsite which couldnt be any closer to the water without it floating, by Montruex. Its cheap as chips and lovely spot.

Others I know of, one by the oympic museum in Lasuanne. Balmers in Interlaken has already been mentioned. Hermance on the French Swiss Border.

Maybe its better to plan activites and sights and google campsites near by based on that?
