Can someone else finalize the apartment handover?

I may have to leave before I finish getting rid of the apartment, which obviously isn't ideal but I was wondering if there is a company or someone that I can pay to do the final showings and do the final protocol with the landlord?

I am hoping it is all done this week, but the landlord isn't exactly being the speediest and I need to get to Canada likely by middle of next week so just looking at how I might be able to make this one work if I can't get it all done before I get on a plane!

You can outsource this to a Treuhand company (management company). I don't know how much they charge or what kind of documents they need. But give them a call.

google "treuhand" in a location near you.

If you do not appear, then they will appoint a third person party on their own, and will cost in the 500 CHF range. Or you could contact me because I have some free time in the next week or so.

You do not need to attend but you need to give a Vollmacht to the person who attends on your behalf. This person will sign the inspection report. Whatever damages and charges agreed to against your rental deposit, all of this is binding.

Yes you can, the Mieterverband (Renters Association) offers this service for example. It is recommendable if you have a difficult landlord. Mine is notorious for taking people to court, so I will definitely have to do that

Looks like it will be done in time thankfully as the contract has now been signed but I am working on getting someone from the Mieterverband to be there with me as it will be my first and only apartment handover in Switzerland and I really don't want to lose anything from my deposit that isn't valid! Just have to hope I find someone who speaks English as they weren't too sure if the couple that do it in my area only speak German which might make things a bit more complicated

Anyone happen to have the name and contact info for someone they used from the Mieterverband who speaks English and attended your handover? The MV gave me two names, neither of which speak a word of English and I really would like to have someone come! I will call the MV again tomorrow but their phone line is always busy in the mornings and worst on Mondays, so thought I would check
