Now I am kicking myself for not bidding on the sectional, but the item was not bid on by anyone and the sofa went unsold. Is there a way that I can email or personal message the seller to arrange the purchase of the sofa outside of Ricardo?
Just hope they offer it again.
However, you can click on the link "Angebot verpasst?...reaktivieren möchte!" and ask the seller if they will re-open the offer. They will get an email notification with your request and, hopefully for you, they agree and do so.
See here for more info from the website: http://www.ricardo.ch/ueber-uns/de-c...#!question=813 . Use Google Translate.
Hope that helps.
Then, you can access it from your member-page.
"Suchen und Beobachten" -> "Beobachter" -> then select "Geschlossene Angebote" from the "Angebotsart" drop-down.
You absolutely positively cannot contact other members directly, unless they are the sellers of a running auction. It's AFAIK also possible to reach-out to other participants of a running auction, but I've never done this - and you have to bid on the item to do this.
As such, ricardo is a very clean, very fair, mostly scam-free market-place.
Mostly due to the fact that an auction ends three minutes after the last bid, which makes it particularly unattractive for auction-snipers.
Most stuff is priced completely surreal, though and thus never sold.
It sometimes helps to suggest a lower starting bid to the seller...
The link to click is the "Angebot verpasst?...reaktivieren möchte!" sentence shown in blue lettering at the top ie immediately before the main title heading of the offer shown in large, bold, black letters.
Click that link and the seller is automatically notified of a request for reactivation.
If re-offered, the advert will have a new item number. By adding the seller to your favourites list, you will be automatically emailed if it becomes available for sale again.
If you have any questions to put to sellers, you can do so in English. There are many sellers on there who understand English and even if not, are motivated to seek the assistance of someone who does.
Finally, this may be stating the obvious but as with physical auctions, successful bids on online ones such as Ricardo, are also binding between the seller and buyer.
If you subsequently change your mind for any reason, I very much doubt that not understanding the language will be considered as an acceptable reason.
Good luck!
I recently had an item on Ricardo which did not sell, and I received a request to reactivate it. I know someone had it on watch, I also had some stupid offers, and to be honest, I was annoyed because no one bid. There was also a chance to buy it outright. But I reactivated it all the same.
And it sold outright, no bidding. I asked the buyer if they were the ones who sent the request to reactivate it and they said no. So the seller will have no idea who is asking and you may lose out again.
If your German is limited, Ricardo can be a challenge, so please do be careful.
Btw, I have an ad running on EF for sofas for sale.
Yes ximix I am aware that the offer is binding, that is why I hesitated so much in the first place, haha.
Doolittle I will take a look at your sofas, thanks
This forum is very helpful thank you all for your help in my transition to life in Switzerland
Also check out places like www.tutti.ch for second hand items. I've bought a couple of things from there locally.
With a sofa important to check size, that you can navigate to get into your home.
some items on Ricardo are prices very high and other very low.
as long as an auction item does not have a bid, the seller can withdraw the item
