Have you thought about trying to sell it yourself? In this day and age, I don't see why anyone would need an estate agent. You have a camera phone, you have the internet, you can show prospective buyers around, you have homegate, newhome etc. why should an estate agent get their cut? Especially in the sellers market that we have in Switzerland at the moment.
Yes I have thought about selling myself… but before I start that I want a plan B I know they’re expensive but I’d like to understand from a recommended agent what they would charge and what they would do.
I can’t recommend any estate agent. We have had bad experiences with a number. Few, if any, want to make their obscene commissions by working lunch hours, evenings or weekends. We had one agent tell a buyer (who we had found) that they were offering too much and we would come down in price. Bar-stewards the lot of them. Even those guys who work for a flat amount rather than commission are problematic insisting using their software and their pictures. Had friends with a lake view who had to use their pictures of an empty field and a cantonal road. Apparently they know better.
Do it yourself.
3-5% is what they want.
