Does anyone know where to get CDN passport photos in Zurich? The application states you can only go to certain shops because of the specific photo size, but doesn't say where to go.
Give Foto Ganz in Zürich HB a try. They seem to specialise in passport photos. Although I can't say for sure that they would do Canadian spec passport photos, it would probably be the best place to start.
Foto Ganz on Rennweg did ours. The woman there knew about the Canadian rules (which are a pain). They do the pictures on the floor above the shop.
Yes, I got mine done there as well. They do every passport size.

Majority of the photo places have complete list of the requirements for different countries' passport photos.
Take the form with you to the shop, along with a small ruler. The form includes the measurements required (how big your head has to be, how far from the edge, etc.). Show them that, and then measure the picture when they give it to you to make sure it conforms. Also, make sure they stamp it on the back with the date and the shop name. This is still a requirement for CDN passports and they will just send them back if that's not there.
As an added piece of advice, I'm assuming you are putting in the application here in Switzerland, if so, make sure you put down a date that you will be travelling if you need it by a certain date. If you do, they will try very hard to get it to you on time. If you don't, they will take their time as most people travel a lot and they always need them rushed through. My experience with them here was great!

Did you end up having the photos done and may I ask what you paid?
I had them done at the photo place in the HB down by the McFit, and I think it was 40 CHF for 2 color photos.
Can't seem to remember the name but I think there is a cheaper place than the one at HB

realizing that I need to renew my CDN passport as well. Wondering if anyone knows of a good place in Zug to get pictures taken? Suppose I'll need to make my way to Bern for the application though.
Any advice on how to renew (easiest and quickest method) would be greatly appreciated.

You will still need to take photo's with you.
the place above has all the specs on what each country needs for their photo's, so you can guarantee that the job is done right.
Had to have mine done again recently and it's where I went to.
Thanks ... saw the above but trying to avoid a trip to Zurich to have a photo taken. Thought there may be somewhere in Zug that could be recommended.
Just find a place in Zug that develops 'old school' photos.
It's usually these places that have the best 'passport photo' set up anyway.
I don't know about Zug, but google 'Kodak' or something and see what pops up.
Alternatively, find the phone number of the place at HB, and just ask them (still saves you the trip - chances are it's a franchised store).
