I am moving to Germany from Zurich in a couple of weeks. I bought a car in Switzerland in the beginning of August. Unfortunately, I will not have owned the car for 6 months when I move.
1. Would it still be possible to get an exemption from the duty and import taxes as I plan on owning the car for the next several years in Germany and did not anticipate the move when I made the purchase?
2. The car was originally manufactured in Slovenia (EU) and I have a certificate of origin. I read somewhere that if the car is manufactured in the EU, the import could be exempt from the 10% import duty. Is that possible in this case?
If anyone has any recommendations for companies that help with customs, I would really appreciate it!
