Car Insurance?

Need some quick opinions...

I did a search on comparis for car insurance, and the ELVIA and SMILE.DIRECT are roughly the same price.

Elvia I believe is owned by Allianz, but smile I've never heard of.

That said, the smile terms seem to offer some pretty decent coverage abroad (including customs and repatriation of the vehicle), while Elvia doesn't seem to have anything.

On the other hand, from what I can tell, Elvia covers gross negligence as standard, while smile want to charge extra for that..

What's the reputation of each? I'm guessing they are both as low as reputation goes... but keen to hear some thoughts...

It is owned by Helvetia.

Direct insurance always have some catch over standard retail insurances. Read , compare, and understand the general terms and conditions. Also and specially compare them with the retail versions. If you just need 3rd party coverage and no frills than most are o.k. because it wont be you which has to deal with them

Keep in mind that Comparis may not be giving you the best options, I got 15% better prices on my Kasko deal than Comparis had found, by directly calling the insurance company

So I did a bit of shopping around "directly" on insurer's sites, and stumbled across this:

100 chf cheaper than comparis, from the same provider (smile), and includes the gross negligence... tempting!
