I've been looking to buy something second hand from anibis.ch, however I just moved here so I don't know how things work
Can parcels be sent with cash on delivery?
Back where I'm from, you could send something through a currier or the post office for relatively cheap, declare the price and the person receiving it had to pay that amount.
I'd rather not send over a couple hundred CHF to some random bank account before I get the item.
So I messaged the seller, he said that option is only available for companies :|
So if that's the case, is there any guarantee that I will get the item from the seller or I have to just send the money and hope for the best?...
(Also keep in mind, that in Switzerland the package becomes your responsibility the moment the seller hands it over to the delivery services. And loss or damage of the package is your problem.
If you are buying online from a company or a shop, standard rights apply (usually stated on their website but pretty much all follow the same format). If the item is damaged you can get a replacement or a refund.
You take your chances with private sellers but check their reputation ratings with online platforms (Ebay, Ricardo, etc.). If they are regular sellers and have a good reputation, I would be willing to take the risk.
I've not bought from Anibis before, but I've bought from other sites and even here on EF. I never had a problem with doing a bank transfer so long as I had the person's name, address, e-mail and phone number. In my experience, people are less likely to con you if they've spoken to you personally. Or if you're nearby you can meet in person in a neutral place like the train station.
The usual "buyer beware" applies, though. If you're buying from a new, unknown seller then consider carefully whether the deal is too good to be true. If it's a reasonable deal, you can offer to pay for tracking services on the package.
Yeah, that's exactly what I asked. However he replied that it's available only for businesses and he's an individual.
Considering on Swiss Post, it's listed under the Business section and says "The practical and safe shipping and collection solution for business customers ", seems like it's the case.
Yeah, I thought about that. However the account was registered yesterday and I can't seem to find any rating system on anibis.
Ebay for ex I don't mind paying first, because there's buyer's protection there.
Also the deal kinda falls into the too good to be true category
