Hi everyone! Does anyone know of a good kennel for cats in Zurich? I need to put my two furry friends into care for a couple of days.
I've been to two places and heard a recommendation for a third one, but would like to know of anyone with personal experiences of these or other places.
Any idea on safe, clean and fun places for feline beings?
1) There is Tierheim Surber at Schauenbergstrasse 100 in Zurich. It houses both cats and dogs. It is slightly cheaper than the other two kennels, but I don't plan to put my cats there because they would not like the loud barking of the dogs nearby and would not feel comfortable in the surroundings.
2) Katzenpension Heuried at Birmensdorferstr. 364 in 8055 Zurich. There are two to three rooms for cats on the top floor of a house. It is small, but appears clean and quiet. It is more expensive than the other two, but not far from the city centre.
3) Someone suggested a third place to me. It is run by the Helena Frey Stiftung in 8153 Rümslang, somewhere outside Zürich. It has a friendly web page: www.Tierschutzheim.ch
many thanks for the information, though unfortunately none of the places mentioned are in my area (near Schaffhauser Platz).
I ended up putting my two furry friends in "Katzen Pension Heuried". It seemed fine, though they were a bit stressed out when they first came back home. After a day back home they were fine again.
Would you be able to update the Swiss Wiki with the Heuried info or just post the info here? So that it's another place with another review that cat owners can refer to.
Glad to hear they're back to normal. The pet visiting service (where they visit your pets and water your plants) while you're away didn't work? It seems a nice alternative as they'll be left at home while you're gone.

Hi soon-to-be cat owner Nanda (and all other cat friends)
If you are interested in contacting Katzen Pension Heuried in Zürich, it is at: Birmensdorferstr. 364. Tel: 044 451 35 55. (Frau Födinger)
Please be aware that the owner of the small place speaks rather thick Swiss German. I don ́t know about her English. As always with these places, check it out first.
Of course, having someone from a pet visiting service come round and feed all hungry creatures would probably be a better option. Cats will prefer to stay put.
(Unfortunately, having someone only visiting my place is not an option.)
When I lived in England, I used the animal aunts. They were great. Anyone who needs a pet sitter in England should contact them. Have a look at:
The took great care of out cat Mausi while I was out of country for 9 days, she was well groomed, really well fed, our apartment was clean, mail box was empty, plants were taken care of, etc.
Two thumbs up for Cats & Co.
(I paid 28 CHF per day.)
I have already posted about the local cat hotel in Binz here ...
I also need to leave my cat, for 2 week, but I have a problem, he was raised only with Humans, so he likes people but not other Cats, so I need a place with "single rooms" :-) do you know if that place where you left your cats had some indivudual places?
Does anyone have any resources for in-home cat sitters in Basel? I will be going on several business trips over the next six months, and will need to have a sitter come in for a week or more at a time - and I refuse to put them into a kennel.
I can't help you with Basel ... but thought I'd ask about Baden, just in case a cat-lover stumbles across this message.
Is there anyone is Canton Aargau (Baden-area) who is up for some cat sitting over the holidays? ... Or, alternatively, does anyone know how I might find a cat sitter near Baden? Tierheims, I've found ... but I'm not sure where/what to search to find someone to come out to my house and look after my 2 hooligans!
I have 2 cat-sitters I use and like them both very much.
One lady lives in Binz, her English is great and her house is clean...i.e. doesn't smell like a litterbox. She has a big room for the cats that is indoors and goes outdoors into her garden - my cat loved it there.
The other person I leave my cat with is from South Africa and she is fabulous; we returned to Canada for 3 weeks and took our cat to her house because we thought it was too long to be without lots of human affection. She really loved our cat and we felt at ease leaving him with her for so long. I believe she also does house calls if needed.
Neither of these people have websites and I don't want to publish their number, so message me if you would like more information.
I live in Zurich 8001. I travel a lot but when I am in town I could help you with the cat. I have a cat too. I don't need any money. I would need your help with my cat in return when I am away. I have a big flat right in the center and your cat can stay with me.
hello! I entered, thanks to this thread, to 'swiss wiki' where I found a cat sitting service called 'coniglio' ( www.coniglio.ch ), does anybody know them? they charge CHF20 per weekday and CHF30 for weekend day, and come to your house and take care of the cat (1 hour). if anybody has any reference it will be great to know!
Does anyone know of a good cat sitting/boarding in Lugano? I'd have to take my cat to them because I won't have a permanent residence yet. I'm coming rather soon so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I know what it's like making sure that your kitties will be fine and well cared for when away. Thats why I've decided to make this my business. As well as having my own cats and dog, I'm doing a profi animal care course with a great person (passed the first part of exam 2 weeks ago!) and would be happy to take care of your cats. My website isn't quite ready, but you can contact me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) . I'm in Zürich, but can maybe put you in touch with other "trained and professional" cat carers in your area. Look forward to hearing from you.
just to let you know that I have used (already a couple of times) the petsitting services of 'coniglio' ( www.coniglio.ch ) for taking care of my cat at home. I can totally recommend them if anybody is looking for someone in zurich (check their website for their area coverage).
Again Im not working for the next 5 weeks and have a resaonable garden, lots of animal care experience and also a qualification in animal care and husbandry.
I live in Vevey and would be happy to look after our little friends!
