Well, 58 in a 50 zone tonight, Wallisellen, Zurich. Double double flashed, hands up. No excuses, serves me right etc.
My car is here for the full allowable 12 months and then will be sent back home to a good cause. The car is still registered at my old UK address but I would like to avoid any extraneous tracking/admin/court fees and try to pay the fine in Zurich somehow. Perhaps visit the traffic department with the date and location perhaps. Has anyone done this or know how to go about it ?
8 over + 10% tolerance to be honest I wouldn't worry too much about it. The bill may never get to the UK! Don't loose sleep over it. It will be just a fine in the post if they want to chase it up.
Thanks, no loss of sleep then, but my old address in the UK is unlikely to pass on mail, and fwd'ing ran out last week. It was 58 on the SatNav, so a true 58. I will write to the Police Station, registered and emailed so I can supply evidence in mitigation that I teied to pay, if I find out a year down the line that a fine was issued and accrued charges and interest. Bit miffed, been trying so hard to stay within the limit...
or you could wait till your next parking ticket. Then go pay for that and see if any other charges are open on those plates. Thats how I found out they registered only 2 parking tickets instead of 5......then the car got stolen so I truly hope the f ers will come to CH with it and get stopped( I got 3 other ones after that)
i woudnt bother doing anything, i was flashed many times in my uk reg car, no bills ever came to the Uk, I later registered the same car and have never heard anything about it.
I think to ignore it is to invite trouble. To pay it is to avoid trouble, surely ?
I don't think the fine will be that big, and with no points system in place, not much to lose at all. There are horror stories on here about fines/charges/debts being ignored and escalating etc. Just trying to be a little Swiss Pay my way and move on with a smile.
So nice to see someone wanting to take care of the issue before it becomes a problem rather than seeking advice on how to get away with it - or the ever popular "what will happen if I don't" type of post.
Nothing wrong with being a little Swiss -- beats the surprise coming through the boarder and being led away in those shiny metal braceletts.
Hi there, just wondered if there was an update on this thread? Did you manage to pay the fine or did the bill arrive in the post. My in-laws have just recently been flashed in a 50 zone doing approx 60 KPH on a Uk registered car. I would be interested to know what happened to the OP. Many thanks
The car was registered to me at the Gemeinde for Local Blue Zone parking. The speeding fine came about 10 days after the offense. I paid it and have heard nothing since. They matched my number plate to a parking database somewhere. Not the police , or the traffic department, but somewhere.
My experience ?
The Traffic department cannot help you.
Your local Police station cannot help you.
You can approach the Police Station in the area you got caught, but they probably won't help you.
The Gemeinde can't help you.
I spoke to Jesus, and he didn't help me either.
So I just waited, and then paid. They will find you.
That's a mutual enforcement agreement. The UK will still provide other countries with registered owner details if requested. Heck, anyone can get hold of those details from the DVLA.
even so a swiss fine can not be enforced in the uk.
i know dvla are a push over when it comes to driver details esp as they make £2.50 from each request but joe blogs cant say " i want details" and expect to receive them.
there are certain ways and key phrases to use on the request form that will ensure the details are recieved though!
