Is there any school in Zurich or is there anyone conducting coaching/lesson part time for CFA Levels?
Anywhere I can source Schweser Level I books for loan? I amplanning to sign up for the Juen exams, but i would like to do some reading on my own and have a feel if I can do this exam.
As somebody who has already covered the CFA level 1, I might give you a few advices. Even if you find a school to help you prepare, it would be totally pointless. The thing is, you will face a very very dull material, which you basically need to sit down and learn by heart. Thats about it. Going to a class will be a waste of time and cash. As for the books, try to get them second hand from amazon. Alternatively, you can find them in a torrent tracker, provided you are comfortable reading from the screen.
I tend to agree with Der_Spieler. The exception to that would be if you have difficulty motivating yourself. In that case a regular class could be really useful, as it was for me when I was learning German.
I'm knocking the Schweser books at all, as I've never tried them, but it's perfectly possible to pass just using the CFA material. I managed to pass all three levels first time in that way.
I'm also happy to provide any advice. Just give me a shout.
Agree, CFA exam materials. you have to know by heart. Going to class won't really help that much because you still need to spend a huge amount of time to be familiar with the materials. One way! Study and understand with some memorizings.
And btw the Sprachkurse are useful for other reasons besides motivation - you can do dialogues with the other students and improve your speaking skills. You can have your writing assignments graded and revised. Whereas for the CFA...sadly going to a class cannot help. You simply have to sit down and spend ridiculous amount of time to memorize it all. The good news is that its not complicated, there is no any particularly difficult math or stuff. The hardest part for me was to memorize the formulas. But then again, I only passed level 1 so far...
