When we are checked the buyer is linked to half price card but not the companion, so have to show Swisscard. There must be a secret to forward the ticket so it links.
What am I missing.
My wife and I often buy Supersavers using the App. One of us will buy both tickets and transfer the other by forwarding the email or through apple wallet.
Are you able to store your wife's Swisspass login info in your own app, to select her as a passenger? I don't think this option exists, at least not on Android.
The app can verify that the account holder has a half fare card, since it's also registered in the app by logging in with Swisspass. I assume that when you buy for your wife using your phone, you are essentially buying for anyone with her name and birthdate - the app has no way of verifying the identity of the other person. If she didn't have to show her half-fare card (which acts as an ID), she would probably have to show ID instead.

I even added a fake passenger named "Mein Velo" because bikes buy at 50%
Sure she can be added as a passenger with a half price card in the app, but it won't be linked to her Swisspass info. She'd still need to physically show her Swisspass.
Yes you can have her on Android. My wife is there and it clearly shows "Half Fare Travelcard". We've travelled together like this many times with me buying the tickets, and I've only ever showed my phone.
As a backup she will have her half fare card stored on the SBB app as well.
Just for clarification, do you add a passenger and say that they have a half fare card? Or do you enter the half fare card number?
Of course you can add as many additional passengers as you want and say they have half fare, but that's not the same a logging them in with their swisspass credentials, or linking their half fare card with your app, as you do your own.
Unfortunately this it is not (yet) possible to add a ticket to your SwissPass. Let them fix first the Junior Card mess.
