Champions League 2019

Dear EF soccer fans,

I was checking some options to watch Champions League next year, as SRF does no longer have the TV rights.

https://www.blick.ch/sport/fussball/...id8643028.html

Looks like they will show one match on Wednesday, but it will be the same for SRF/RTS/RSI. Teleclub Zoom will broadcast some games for free, but that's about it. Since I'm switching Internet/TV providers, I would like to ask how you plan to watch it at home. The rights are now owned by Teleclub, so the options that I'm considering are:

(1) Swisscom

*With any inOne package, you can get Teleclub Sport for 29.90/month. It contains other stuff (Swiss League, Serie A, etc.) but not the Premier or La Liga, so for me it's a bit overpriced (these 2 are in Dazn).

*Take an inOne package and buy individual games at 5 Sfr each, which seems more reasonable as you only pay when you actually use it.

(2) Sunrise

Take any combined package of Internet + TV plus Teleclub Basic (33.80) + Teleclub Sport (18.80). You cannot select only the Sport package as opposed to Swisscom.

(3) Cable

In Teleclub's website they mention this option, but you need to get Teleclub Movie (39.90) + get the Sport package (9.90). In my case, we have fiber at home, so this is not a real option.

I would appreciate any thoughts / comments on your plans

Thanks guys!

Oh no! i better start thinking about that too.

zattoo.com it's free and legal and you can get most main UK, German, French (and some other) channels. Amongst those you should be able to see most games.

Yeah, I thought about that too...But DAZN and Sky have the rights for Germany and Austria, and in France last year it was with beIN Sports, so no free soccer also

From the Blick article quoted above

"Die Option, auf einen Sender aus dem Ausland auszuweichen, fällt übrigens weg: In Deutschland und Österreich sind die europäischen Wettbewerbe neu bei den Anbietern Dazn und Sky und damit komplett hinter die Bezahlschranke verbannt worden"

Oh no !

If only there was an alternative method to watch them.... I wonder if you searched on Reddit you'd find anyone who solved this issue

Reddit has been great now I no longer have access to Sky etc.

Does DAZN cover CL in Switzerland? I have it but use it for the Primera Liga primarily, can't recall CL coverage

Unfortunately not, I checked that yesterday in hope. Teleclub have the rights in CH.

As an alternative, start supporting Arsenal, it's way easier to find our Europa League games...The Champions League is a dead duck.

That was my only use of the Billag money :'(

I know at least this year it will be a bit cheaper

But it seems we still have the Italian RAI (via Zattoo for example), plus one Wednesday match, even if it's not a Swiss team. No?

Looks like RAI's will show one match one Wednesday from an Italian team...

I guess it's a similar agreement as SRF, but they are not limited to Swiss teams only, as that would mean very few matches

"It will be able to screen a match featuring an Italian team on Wednesday nights. It will also broadcast two semi-finals, the final and the European Supercup." (Source: https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2018...eturns-to-rai/ )

Android box and Acestream it will have to be then.

As far as I understood, Acestream is based on P2P, thus you are not only downloading but also uploading...is that correct?

I was watching the Liverpool game on DAZN the other night and afterwards they were advertising UCL games, but that might only be the qualifying rounds taking place this week.

Paddy, I guess the commentary was purely German, right?

They advertise it because they have the rights in Germany...but not in Switzerland

Yes, and rather uninspiring it was too.

Confirmed, no UCL in DAZN for this season...
