Does anyone know the website where i can change my address online? I am moving within Basel Stadt. I know i have seen this on the forum before but i just tried searching and came up with nothing THANKS!

Not sure you can do it online - in Zurich, one has to go to the Gemeinde / Stadtverwaltung / Einwohnerkontrolle to pay and get the address changed.

I have already moved once in Basel, i should remember this! Maybe i just need to do it at the post office. Will keep searching!

Hey Rose,

When we moved within Basel, all we did was updated our address at the Migration office at Shifflande and then went to our neighbourhood Die Post and asked to change our address. You will also have to pay a nominal fee at the Die Post so that they forward all your mail to the new address for the next few weeks (transition period). Apart from that there was nothing else that we had to do.

Plus make sure that you change your address for all your insurance, cell phones etc etc contracts.

I changed my address online but should i receive a new permit ?? or card or something ???

I have an auslaenderausweis B permit EG/EFTA for 5 years .... with my old address on it...

Yes I think u get a new ausländerausweis, cause my partner and i went there to change our adress within basel and they said he (L permit) will get a new one for 20 or 25 francs. they also told us that we can do it online or over the phone the next time.... i wondered why we had to show our passports then.. ?

some days after he got the new paper and the bill.

You have to take your permit and passport, and visit the Einwohneramt, Spiegelgasse 6, office personally. You also need to inform the Strassenvekehrsamt about your driving license / vehicle.

This is all (used to be) free of charge in Bern.

thank you to all, i just called and it seems they forgot to send me the updated permit, however i was already updated with my new address in the system.

Because you don't have a creditcard format Ausländerausweis you can't do it online. (The creditcard format Ausweis works on the same basis as the creditcard format driving license).

This is the case for EU/EEA nationals who aren't eligible for the credit card format Ausländerausweis.

The site states the following to this effect:

Hinweis an unsere ausländische Kundschaft Personen, die nicht bereits im Besitz eines neuen Ausländerausweises in Kreditkartenformat sind oder über eine EG/EFTA-Bewilligung verfügen, müssen ihre Adressänderung innerhalb des Kantons Basel-Stadt persönlich beim Einwohneramt anzeigen.

Alle betroffenen Personen müssen mit dem Ausländerausweis und dem Reisepass an der Spiegelgasse 6 vorsprechen.

I don't think you're right. I interpret your quoted text as saying you need to attend personally if you have neither a CC type card nor a EU/EFTA permit. That is, you only need to attend if you are a non-EU with a paper permit.

I changed my address online with no problem.

I just changed my address in Basel Stadt by phone, got the number on this page:

Rang them up and they changed to my new address even though I'm in a temporary address for October and not moving to my new address until Nov 1st.

Hey Guys,

I know this is an old thread but im looking to change my address. Just moving from Basel Stadt to Basel stadt, nothing complicated, just moved flats. (and im within the EU)

Because im so busy with work im struggling to get time to get to the migration office was wondering if it is possible to do it online and is this the correct link to do so?

Sorry for repeating previous questions but just want to make sure as i really dont want to make any mistakes!! thanks!

Hi I have two questions

1) When moving to a new Canton, do i need to deregister at the old canton if so do I do that before or after registering at the new one?

2) Is there a way to do this online. I am moving from Basel to Lucerne

Old thread but I need some help. I'm someone scared of doing things wrong and I need to verify the process:

Moving within Basel-Stadt,

1) requesting address change @ Die Post,

2) declaring address change @ the local authority (I don't know where & how and whether it's possible to do it online),

3) any other authority and/or office to declare the address change?

I'm asking the second question having read the above posts, not sure whether things have changed since then.

visit the "Kundenzentrum Basel-Stadt", they will help get the problem sorted.

Non-EU/EFTA (those with credit card permits) need to do it in person at the migrationsamt.

Utilities companies, mobile/landline phone provider, bank/s, etc. Anyone you get a bill from basically. Then of course all the friends and family.
