Good evening,
As dumb as it sounds, I haven't been able to change currencies in Swiss Airlines webpage swiss.com to CHF.
I have a spanish laptop so first displayed in spanish languaje and EUR currency. I've managed to change the country to Switzerland and language to english but still displays all prices in EUR.
I want to pay with my Post Finance card in CHF. I've gone up to the very end of the booking process where it redirects you to the Post Finance security page, and the charge it pretends to do is in EUR so I'm concerned they'll charge me their (pretty bad) exchange rate.
So if anyone has been able to change the currency in swiss.com his/her help will be much appreciated!
Cheers!
Try
this link ( Switzerland in English )
or even this:
http://booking.swiss.com/web/Swiss-O...itzerland.html
Another thing, if running Windows, change the System Locale to a town in Switzerland.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Region and Language\Location Tab, and change
Thanks jrspet, tried both and still no luck, it will display prices in EUR
I'm running Ubuntu Linux and thought that connecting from a swiss IP address would be enought, I'll try to find a way or in the worst case try from the office, if the page is not blocked.
Regards
Are your flights originating outside Switzerland? I've booked several times for family members travelling here from the Eurozone and the ticket has always been priced in EUR. The "attractive" (i.e. round number) prices in EUR are thus valid, rather than a converted sum. I'm afraid I can't look up old statements to confirm or deny a foreign currency charge as it's been a while.
The Swiss.com statement is a little ambiguous "all fares, taxes, charges and fees are payable in the currency of the country in which the ticket is issued..." as surely your country of issue, regardless of flight origination, is CH.
I am using a Ubuntu variant and Google Chrome and displays in CHF, in CH ( as expected ).

I was trying to book Madrid - Zurich as I always do round trips since I first came to Switzerland. I've tested booking the inverse flight and as you mentioned, it is priced in CHF!
Now that I remember, when I bought via swiss.com and paid with mi spanish credit card, in the card statement, the debit was made by some sort of Swiss subsidiary based in the Balearic Islands (Mallorca).
Regardless of that, as you mention, I cannot understand why wouldn't they emit a Madrid to Zurich ticket from the "Swiss Swiss" if I'm eager to buy it from Switzerland and pay it in CHF.
I'd better call them directly.
I recall the Postfinance option was somehow not available when booking Barcelona to Geneva and paid by card ( EUR12 OPC ).
In my case it was available, but que quantity and amount to debit was in EUR, so I'm not sure if Post Finance will do a currency exchange to debit my CHF account.
Found this
Booking flights on SWISS.COM with your Swiss Post account [...]
Payment is effected via E-Finance directly through your Swiss Post account*. As number one in Switzerland in the e-finance field, PostFinance guarantees you swift and secure processing of your transactions.
[...]
* valid for all tickets for flights departing from Switzerland and all countries using the euro as currency.
Still doesn't say a word about currency conversion
It's fairly standard practice for flights to be invoiced in the currency of originating city, so for a flight originating in MAD, being invoiced in EUR would be normal.
Any news from using a different machine ?
Btw, Lastminute.com gives some decent RTN deals on SWISS from BCN. They might not have the OPC.

Having had my father working for Iberia for more than 40 years as a sales manager I realized I should have asked him first!!!
So he confirmed me what catandmouse says, tickets are priced in the currency of the originating country. In the case of Iberia, if you paid cash, the "official" rate was aplied. If you paid card it was up to your card issuer.
Also I can confirm that paying with PostFinance from swiss.com a flight priced in EUR, the amount in EUR will be debited and PostFinance will make a currency conversion to debit the amount in CHF from your account.
In my case, a rate of 1.2551 was applied which is pretty ok for a commercial FX ask operation. Anyways I'd rather have no currency conversion and pay directly in CHF but that's the way it is.
Options are to start buying ZRH-MAD round trips instead of MAD-ZRH but that will make me buy at least one one-way pricey ticket to invert the order, and maybe another one when the time comes to return to Spain to never come back
