changing door lock

The main problem with the usual KABA keys here are that there are master keys, especially the 5000 model, used by electricians/plumbers/firemen to access common areas, and also to shutdown lifts in case of fires. I 'm not sure of this but if your appartment doorkey opens your building front door too, that would mean that a subset of the KABA keys is being used and changing the lock might mean changing all locks because the fact that all of one appartment's keys are in the wild means anyone can get in to the building itself.

Oh and the KABA models normally require a gerance authorization to be copied, and not often will even keyshops in the near abroad do them because of the serial numbers.

No problem to copy them in the northern border areas at all.

In Switzerland they might sometimes require some sort of authorization/special procedure/identification to copy some types of Kaba keys, but not all, and certainly not if you copy them abroad.

I've copied Kaba keys in Liechtenstein for properties in Ticino hassle-free!

Exactly. I've copied Kaba Star keys in Germany for my flats/doors in Switzerland without any problem, nothing required other than the money for the copies. It's also less expensive than if I do it in Switzerland as I got a couple of quotes before copying.

why is this thread still going? it is easy: go to the local locksmith and ask him. he will give you a price and can install it for you.

if you want to do it yourself, measure everything, order a lock off ebay and then install it.

An update as the issue was sorted today by the locksmiths (came recommended by the concierges). They did two things: dismantled the door (but I don't know what else they did on that front) and also drilled away a bit of part in the door frame where the lock gets into. It works now.

So incredibly complicated for a little key.....smh. These kinds of things drive me crazy.
