Does anyone have any idea of where I can find cheap bedsheets? I've found out that La Redoute also deliver in Switzerland, and have found some reasonably priced pillow case and duvet cover sets, but bedsheets themselves seem to cost an absolute fortune everywhere. Our bed is 180 x 200 and I can't find any bedsheets cheaper than about 35CHF... 35CHF for a piece of fabric! Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
IKEA is generally a good place to look for bedsheets if you're on a tight budget. I'm not sure f they have the size you require though as this isn't one of IKEA's standard bed sizes AFAIK, but maybe worth checking out anyway?
I'd already looked at Ikea, but couldn't find any in the size we need. Having just looked again, I see they have some in the right size for around 25CHF, which is definitely better! Now the problem is getting to an Ikea...
Thanks for the advice... next time I'll take a closer look and not be such an idiot.
30-35 chf for a sheet is not bad for a 180x200... I've seen much higher.
I have a 200x200... I buy jersey bottoms from Manor (Interio doesn't have the size if I recall correctly); Coop also has some, depending on the colors you want.
For tops I used family antiques or duvets.
Note that Pfister does nice white sales, usually after xmas. Still expensive though - you may find 80chf for a large duvet cover or more.
I do buy second-hand things frequently, but I'm a bit funny about bedsheets. Thank you for the offer, though. I think Ikea is probably the best bet for me. I'll have to go to Ikea at some point anyway, we'll just have to keep using a bedsheet that's too msall in the meantime! It's a shame Casa doesn't do them, I like their stuff.
Paying a bit more for a good quality bed sheet means it will last longer. I have bed sheets that I bought at Pfister and Interio that I bought years ago and we still use them. I also have sheets I bought at Manor and the quality is really good.
It is really important to follow the washing instructions, particularly if you use a tumble dryer. If it is too hot it will ruin the fabric.
Keep at look out at the Aldi & Lidl websites as they often have very good quality sheets.
They are opening a Lidl in Yverdon shortly & if you have a car the nearest Aldi for you would I imagine be the one over the border in Pontarlier France.
I'm with Cannut here. In the first few days I was in Switzerland I was told there's a difference between "billig" and "gùˆnstig", followed by an explanation. I never forgot that.
