Cheapest place to live in Switzerland

Where is the most inexpensive place to live in Switzerland?

Just after the French border

You mean biel/bienne? for example??

No i mean close to Geneva but in France. I didnt know they were inexpensive places in Switzerland

Yes, there are. In the boonies.

Any restrictions? I would say that any semi rural area with a 20 minute or more trip to the nearest autoroute or somewhat metropolitan area is going to be pretty cheap. At least in the French part, many of the mountainous areas are quite cheap i.e. 600 francs gets you a decent 50sq. meter apartment. But it's of course a compromise- there might be 2 buses in and out per day, one shop with some groceries, lots of snow. Depends on your priorities and lifestyle.

The cheapest place to buy property I have found is up around the Jura - Porrentury area.

Having said that, I think for tax they are one of the most expensive -swings & roundabouts.

Innerschweiz is pretty cheap too, Entlebuch & Emmental (on the Bernese side), you can rent a big nice appartment for 800.-/m

If it would be an option... Lichtenstein hands down.

I asked my husband and he said probably the Buchs area (St. Gallen)

Is there any place ??

Rents are much cheaper over the Hirzel. Einsieldeln, Feusisberg and Wädenswil are some of the places that colleagues found cheap apartments in. There are thousands of cars coming past my place from Kanton Zurich and Schwyz every day.

I think it is all about the balance between cost of life and tax rate, making it fully dependent on your financial situation.

My Place of course I buy local, have solar on my roof, cook with wood from my forest, only pay around 15% tax , that's just the start! Its cheap to live anywhere in the Swiss! what are you comparing it to? If you are talking about about tax that's a different story!

And you guys thought I was just a one week wonder
