chicken pox vaccination

i m 24 yrs old woman from basel, planing for a child..I did some normal blood tests and found out tht I m not vaccined against chicken pox...can anybody tell me how much wud it cost?

I got the vaccine this year. It cost CHF 89 per vaccine plus costs for the nurse who administered it. A booster should be given 1 month after that will cost the same amount. Unless you are around kids I wouldn't bother since most adults have had it. My 2 1/2 year old son has been exposed to other kids that later got chicken pox in 3 different groups and he got nothing. I have a friend who, many years ago, before the vaccine was around, got chicken pox after her second child was born and she was extremely ill, hospitalized, in fact. Have you checked whether your health insurance will cover the cost of the vaccine? Even if they don't, unless you have any medical conditions where the vaccine should not be given, I would suggest you consider having it. Talk to your doctor as you may also need to wait before getting pregnant.

Mrs. Doolittle is spot on. Getting the chicken pox when you're an adult is much worse than when you're a child. Plus, getting the vaccine will also protect you from getting shingles later in life.

Most Obgyns carry the vaccine to give to pregnant women,

To those who don't know, one of the reasons that children are vaccinated against chicken pox is because it is dangerous for the unborn child if a pregnant woman gets it.

Take the vacination ASAP regardless of the cost!!!! I got my dose of chicken pox when I was 32 years old and I still have the scars now! I ended up in hospital too as the spots were getting very close to my eyes and apparently this can result in blindness if not treated correctly.

thanks a lot for your comments...i had never got chicken pox as a child..so will get it asap now...
