My 5 year old's permit also requires a signature. Can I legally sign this or is there something else I need to do - i.e. get it witnessed by a solicitor or something ?

We have finally after 9 months of waiting received our B permits.
I think you just leave it blank.
Correct there is no requirement of signature.

our permit for our littlest child doesn't even have a photo - the consider it irrelevant as he won't look the same in a few months time !
(that, and it took my four attempts to get an 'acceptable' passport photo for my middle child when he was a toddler !)...
