Children of Non-EU CdL holders. What are chances to get B or C permit?

What is the chances/options for children of non-EU CdL holders to receive B or C permit now? I know a lot changed since 2019, however, since then, is there any cases where children got B or C permit in Geneva?

Children holding a Cdl who are not EU citizens and who have reached the age of 25 can request a B permit , they will have to return their Cdl on their 25th birthday. In some cases , children who have lived at least 12 consecutive years in Switzerland can request a C permit once they reach the age of 21, if they can prove that the education and past years were spent in Switzerland.

  1. Can children just apply for permit B when they turn 25?
  2. What are those cases where children can request C permit when they turn 21?

There was a recent EF thread of a young person changing from family CdL/Ci to his own permit B/C. They just barely fulfilled the criteria for a permit C, and got it! Best to read their story: CDL expired, now asking for C permit

What are you finding confusing?

It seems pretty clear to me based on what you’ve posted but that’s not an official source.

2. They need to have lived for at least 12 consecutive years in Switzerland and be able to prove that they pursued their education here (presumably in local schools rather than international ones) and resided here.
