I'm sure most parents wouldn't.
Probably the kiddies on their way to school, with their pocket money and most parents won't even know about it anyway so.
Gum typically is (unless it is candy coated), isn't it?
So that fancy "authentic looking" bit is paper, isn't it?
Unless the argument is that the things will encourage kids to EAT tobacco, I find it rather silly actually.
There are lollipops in the US (I'm sure elsewhere also) that are formed on a base and generally look like pacifiers. Would you argue that such candies encourage youths to suck on pacifiers their whole lives?
It's ok, I do understand the underlying sentiment.
On the other hand, the big moment of temptation regarding smoking for me had nothing to do with cigarette style candies but rather, when I came to the realization when I began working that the smokers got breaks more often than I did.
Alas, asthma does not lend itself well to developing a smoking habit, one inhale and I nearly coughed up my guts along with a lung or two... I seriously do not understand how anyone gets past that first inhale.
My moment of temptation came when a friend persuaded me & said 'it's cool' so I gave in (did I subconciously have those little candies in the back of my head?)... at 14, my father smelt it & that was it, since then I've always been a non-smoker.
But this might also be related to my parents who are (and since I remember always have been) smokers too
