Balloon party, sounds great, what did you do? with the exception of have tons of helium balloons, and balloon animals......

www.planetmagic .ch/ in Wädenswil organise fun birthday parties in English.

I don't have kids of my own, but I have often volunteered a hand or brains (or both ) to organise/manage activities for my nephews and other family/friends' kids.

Animals (including the ever-popular dinosaur subset) is a safe bet with kids. There's a gazillion games you can invent or "adapt" to the topic.

We did a fireman party. You can get rice paper pictures to go on cakes from ebay.

Fancy dress party are always popular too.

Im just arranging one for my daughters 6th, a cooking party - decorate pre- made cookies/ cupcakes, you can also have fun with the invites - wooden spoon, and cookie cutters for gift bags i got the idea from this website:

www.onecharmingparty.com it offers tons of ideas (scroll down quite a bit, and on the right) they also offer some party's for sale for $25 where they 'plan' the whole party for you - printable invites and decorations, what games to play and when, what food, hoe to decoration ect, you dont have to buy them but its great inspiration!

My 8 year old just had a disco party!!! We made a disco ball pinata, had a spinning disco ball, cupcakes with disco sprinkles and our eldest daughter taught dance routines!! Party bag contained a CD with my daughters favourite songs on! I love kids parties hence (shameless plug about to happen) I opened a party supply shop! www.party-queen.com !

Re the balloon party... we had balloons everywhere.. let them all fly off in the sky with tags tied to them if someone finds them... The clown made things out of balloons... swords and stuff... the boys had a ball! those kind of things :=)

you find loads of videos on Youtube about making Balloons Animals, they are not so difficult. I bought balloons from Manor.

this guy is hilarious, esp the badly made bed in the background, but his explanations are good!

For my 8th birthday, my parents prepared a "jungle" party. It had crocodiles with teeth made of melon, hedgehog shaped plates with spikes make of toothpicks with fruit and cheese, a piñata in the shape of a palm tree, a cake in the shape of a lion. Everything done by themselves with colourful paper and a lot of patience.

It was awesome!
