back at home I used to find the famous chocolate wafers from Nabisco but not here!

The Nabisco's Famous Wafers is just the cookie part of Oreos, there are many "copy cat" recipes online, some starting with cake mixes, some from scratch . (Edit: This recipe looks pretty good too)
As cake mixes tend to be expensive here (I think so anyhow), whether it is 6chf for a "local" mix or something around 8 or 9 chf for a Betty Crocker mix, to me, it makes more sense to use scratch recipes as much as possible.
(Otherwise, you can buy Oreos - also very expensive! - and simply scrape off the icing, depending upon what your intended use is.)
Coop sells a kinda flower shaped wafer cookie, I've found it in gingerbread and chocolate / orange flavors so far, they may also be available in straight chocolate flavors too, I'd not noticed. These have done very well crushed for some cheesecake crusts and crumbled into yogurt for dessert, I think they'd also be great for "home made" ice cream sandwiches also. The Coop locations where I've found them, they generally seem to be on the lower shelves.

Basic chocolate wafer biscuits - in many variations (filling, covering) are readily available in nearly all shops.
Even mini pocket packs of After Eights (choc/mint wafer confectionery from Britland) can be picked up in my local Migros - right by the checkout.
But if these aren't as to what you're referring, we may have to ask Mr. Creosote.

Well obviously I didn't Google that brand - plus the lack of capital letters in the actual product name (meaning that it didn't come across as a specific product) - even if Nabisco choose to call them wafers, they look like regular choccy bikkies to me.
A case of a manufacturer choosing a name to promote a product, that may not be exactly as it is called (IMO).

... but are probably known as something else in the US. (I can't remember from my time there).
Gosh, I couldn't remember, I had to look it up. We call them "sugar wafers" in the US.
The reason I knew exactly what the OP was talking about was because a number of years ago I had to hunt some down myself to make a chocolate mocha cheesecake for a company party. (Cake was a hit, unfortunately, four moves between then and now, recipe is lost. )
It seems I ll have to use oreos biscuits since its the closest thing to what I m actually looking for!
