Our son will start Sek after the summer vacation. Up to now, he attended a private primary school in Zurich.
I registered him today at the local Sek this morning. When asking about their lunch offering their answer was quite clear: nothings offered, help yourself.
Since I want to make sure, that my son gets reasonable healthy lunch, I am looking into other options.
Would it help, if my son would be registered at a friends address (e.g. in Zurich)?
If so, would be enough to registered as a 2nd Wohnsitz?
Thanks!
On his own? Not a chance.
Just make him his lunch yourself.
They don't even have a microwave! All they seem to have is a room with tables- and not supervised.
The idea is that they go home. They eat either with parents or at that age also on their own. Just prepare the food and he can heat it up at home. He is 13 after all, no?
Either he goes home and makes himself lunch or give him 10 CHF and let him enjoy lunch at Coop with friends. This is what they do at 12 here ..
And forget supervision.... This is the country where 4 years old cross the streets alone, there is not going to be lunch supervision at this age upwards!
My teenagers come home for lunch 2-3 times a week, and goes to the local Migros with their friends the other days.
When they come home for lunch and we are not at home, they heat up leftovers, make their own sandwiches, or too often lately they like to pimp up some instant Ramen.
I agree with all the posters above me. We are never home for lunch, but my teen (2. Sek) goes home two days a week, makes herself a sandwich, fruit and veggies, and the other three days goes to the local coop with her friends.
Your son could make his own lunch and just take it along, if coming home for lunch isn't an option.
When I was a kid this was quite simple: get a loaf of sliced sandwich bread, prepare the whole loaf as sandwiches with toppings I want, wrap individually in baking paper, pop in the freezer.
Choose the sandwich I want in the morning, put it in my bag. By lunch the sandwich is thawed and ready to eat.
When I wanted a banana sandwich, I just spread butter on the bread and took the banana along separate to squish between the slices at lunch time.
Once the freezer-load of sandwiches are almost done, get another loaf of bread and repeat.
They can be more creative if they want, but this is pretty simple and quick.
Two of my school friends who came from a long way away by bus- had a day room and lunch with a local lady, and a space to work. You could advertise to find this kind of arrangement. Although I agree with above- kid is old enough to make own lunch, just as I and my brother did, a long time ago.
Why not just make a packed lunch in the morning to take to school?
I am not a big fan of the food at my office canteen so usually make a sandwich out of whatever we have in the house, plus take some fruit. Or make a salad to take in a tupperware box. Or if we had e.g. a chilli or soup or similar the night before, heat the leftovers up and take it in a food flask
The only limit is your imagination.
Mine was asked to walk alone to school in Chindsgi itself.... Thanks everyone for your inputs... Helps to prepare mentally!
