My fiance recently brought me a diamond necklace and bracelet from CHRIST jewelry in Zurich... Is that a quality jewelry store or NO? We are from America so we have no clue!!
it is, yes.
Were you gonna cancel the wedding if it wasnt?
oh no, never!! I had just never heard of them before. So I was unaware if they were a good quality source. All together he says he paid around $950 American dollars. Which is close to what it would have cost in francs. I just wanted to make sure he didn't get ripped off since he is a foreigner in Switzerland and he says they do not like Americans over there.. lol too funny
i got my wife her engagement ring there for around 800.-
It was an "einzelfertigung" (one of its kind), its a very well regarded shop.
To be honest, switzerland isnt spain, turkey or greece, they are used to foreigners in the shops here, i have yet to hear about anyone getting ripped off.
That sounds remarkably good value for diamonds - it may well be worth the airfare to go and check CHRIST out!!!
Christ is the largest jewelery franchise in Switzerland and are owned by a retail company. They do sell brandnames watches and specialize in mainstream jewelery such as Swarowski etc. They are comparable to any Macy's jewelery but tend to have better quality products as well as a more valuable inventory list. It certainly isn't a Tiffany/highend store but nevertheless a decent place to buy affordable watches and jewelery.
Wouldnt quite say its worth the flight, Switzerland has many jewelery shops and i am sure most are over and above the price that you would pay in the states (including Christ)
Thanks and I am sure you are right. However, I am not in the states (I am only 3 hours away)
It is a good shop and I must say diamond necklace and bracelet for this price sounds like a good deal (depends obviously on the brand and quality (and number) of diamonds, so all is relative...). One small advice: don't lose the payment document - it happened to me (specifically with Swarowski and Misaki jewelry) when the stones fell out not long after the purchase and I needed to come back and argue to change the thing.
Can't you just accept the gift for what it is? If it had come from Ratner's, would it have been any less sentimental?
Sorry, thought you were the OP for a minute
quite a fair review. While not a Tiffany nor a Shreve, it has good quality and it is reliable. Much better quality than the run-of-the-mill kay or zales... and the gold is usually 18 or 24 (not a measly 14...) carat. With the cost of gold nowadays, that is worth something.
I have only seen them on skype.. its a chunky silver necklace with diamonds encrusted on the bottom part. and the braclet is just a silver bracelet.. i will see them better when he gets home on friday.. thanks for the help
Christ is a large German chain with over 200 branches, some in Switzerland. They have mass market lower to medium priced items. Typically pretty standard stuff like Tissot or Citizen watches...
Okaaay
Trev- this is how you do it
We are her only source of info. This is not how you do it.
Got it?
Well, MY wife isn't mass market... so I don't shop at Christ.
(Was that too direct?)
Christ Switzerland and Christ Germany have parted their ways in 2006. It is now fully owned by Coop since 2006. They operate 80 stores in Switzerland and not just a few.
Lucky girl!
Ok, so that makes it high end bling then.
Have you heard so many bad things for shops in Greece? because I am not sure I can agree with you.
