I’m alsonew to Basel and I’m looking for a Pentecostal Evangelical church.
Based onthe contents of this forum I decided to pay a visit to CrossRoads, but I foundit to be very mild and superficial when it comes to worship and praise.
I’ve heardof ICF ( http://www.icf-basel.ch/translation/english.html )but judging from the website, it looks a bit ‘too cool’!
Anyone careto share their experiences and hopefully shed some light?
I went to Crossroads this morning, the sermon was good but I understand what you mean by the praise and worship being a bit "reserved". Did you ever visit ICF Basel? or does anyone else go there?
I see they have services with English translations at 7.30 pm on Sundays and was thinking of giving it a try. Thanks.
After scouting for churches in Basel and meeting the people at Crossroads, I have decided to stick around and settle there with my family even though we find the praise and worship time unsatisfactory. We try to compensate at home :-P
On the other hand, preaching is rather good (and short for my standards) and the people there are quite friendly and outreaching toward newcomers.
All in all, we are pleased with the choice, but I encourage everyone in this forum to take their time and see around before deciding for church A or B.
Thanks for the update, I did think Crossroads could be a good home church, but I will try ICF Basel and the Basel Christian fellowship over the next few weeks before choosing.
Thanks for your help
Except from a few swiss-german songs, songs are in english (Hillsong, Vineyard Music...). Even (swiss)german songs have subtitles.
One of the focuses of Vineyard (not only Basel) is helping and caring for the community. ("Dienst am Nächsten" --> Serving others), you can find some vids on the Website:
Service takes place at 5:30 pm on Sundays in the Theodorskirche (Wettsteinplatz) in Kleinbasel, near to the Rhine.
Welcome to join!
for outreach watch here:
From the website, they do offer headset for translating preach, priest are from USA and Canada Die Pastoren
Pastor Al und Gloria Veer sind beide in Kanada aufgewachsen - Gloria in Calgary und Pastor Al in Vancouver.
Wil und Melanie Williford stammen ursprünglich aus den USA (Wil) und Kanada (Melanie)
Just for info, I've been to some other Churches around Basel area which recommended in this thread, and I havent really find one that 'fills' me.. especially in terms of worshiping..
So I will keep hunting.
Will be good to hear other people experiences with their visit.
